Our son s been attending La Petite Academy since January. We had a wonderful experience when he was in the infant room, and he s had a smooth transition to the toddler room. Our experience with the teachers has been great. They are friendly, attentive, and caring. They take the time to tell us details of his day and provide us with a daily report card. At one year old they ve already taught our son many words in English and Spanish and even some sign language, they do a great job reinforcing what we do at home. They work on colors, shapes, reading, and have daily themes that are very age appropriate. They send home art projects regularly, and all of the children seem very happy. Our son s former teachers always stop to say hello to us and visit him in his new room. I am impressed that the teachers for every age group know my son by name, it is clear that they see themselves as part of a team. The director and assistant director seem to be very involved and really care about the quality of the teachers and the school. Although they ve always been good about communicating, they recently started e-mailing information in addition to posting it and sending flyers home with the kids.

We recently switched schools. There is a lot of teach turnover and communication with parents is inconsistent. They will put a memo out introducing one new teacher and not another, and then they are replaced by someone else without notice. I've witnessed teachers talking down to students as a means to discipline...embarassing ones that have accidents who are newly potty trained, refusing help and calling a child helpless because a teacher who is too busy to assist. I've heard that afternoon snack and other scheduled activities are skipped because of poor time management and lack of resources. The school maxes out the legal ratio and the staff is not prepared to responsibly supervise children as evident from the multitude of accident reports. Many of the teachers truly love their jobs but are frustrated with the lack of support from the Directors and management. They claim to be have supplies for their lessons and either have to get them out of their own pocket or do without. We left because the instability of the school has resulted in behavioral problems that we do not want our child exposed to. Aggressive behavior and language is too common place and inappropraite.

Used to be a great school, but has deteriorated in many ways in the past 2 years. Management communication with parents and more importantly teachers is limited. We have been there for 6 yrs and just now moved to a different school. No one even asked us why we were leaving. Some teachers on our last day were not told my management that we were leaving. My oldest son should have learned to read, but he was not prepared for kindergarten. I have witnessed books on CD with the teacher flipping the pages for kids (I was told this is part of the curriculum). Renovations in 2009, but toddler room is bared off with bookcases, and air conditioner breaks often, and there is never a clear plan with parents on transitioning to new classes. Much work to be done, but I have not seen any improvement in the first month of their new management, so we decided to move our youngest.

My son has attended this daycare from 3 months old to now 2 years old. There seems to be a high turnover rate at this center and some of the employees have a language barrier.
