This is the best preschool in Northern Virginia. It has a beautiful campus with many playgrounds and gardens for the children to enjoy. The school teaches a love of learning. In addition to standard academics, the children learn to garden and cook. The art teacher is superb. The administrative staff is helpful. The teachers are nurturing. Children love the school. Their parents love the school. It's a real school and not a daycare center like so many of the schools nearby, so you pay more for the qualified, educated teachers. Ask about the qualifications of "teachers" at other "preschools" and you'll find many lack degrees in Early Childhood Education, or don't even have degrees! CDS is worth every penny. Your child will soar.
CDS is an awesome preschool. They showed their supreme knowledge of a child's development by not requiring 2 1/2 year olds to be potty trained when they begin at the school--CDS knows this skill comes when kids are ready. The nurturing environment and effort to make all learning fun, make the school special. It is expensive, so that is the one drawback, but the grounds and the teachers are terrific. All of my children have loved CDS and I feel the warmth of their teachers when I am on campus.
Country Day School (CDS) is an excellent pre-school. We couldn't be happier here. I recommend this school very highly. The administrators, teachers and parent community are A+. If you have the opportunity to enroll your child in the parent/child program here, do it. It's my favorite program and a great introduction to the school. CDS is a very nurturing environment with strong academics and a comitment to investing in teachers. I would encourage you to take a tour of the campus and see it for yourself. It is just a lovely, lovely pre-school. The grounds are used year round for play, science, etc... Your preschooler will love this school.
