Clairmont School and Child Care Center

Over the years, Clairmont school has improved in many ways. Most teachers have been there for several years. The children learn through play, songs, stories and crafts that are incorporated into the weekly curriculum. Student ratio is low in most classes.

Director is not welcoming. School needs updating. Staff are not equally treated by Director.

Not impressed! Director is not involved in the day to day program and never seemed to be available. Child was not supervised and seemed to be run more by high school to young college age students, than trained professionals.

School was overpriced compared to other pre-schools of the same quality in the area. My child attended for a year and began complaining that she didnt want to go to school anymore. Child complained of mean teachers etc.

This school has a wonderful preschool program with classes that include Spanish, art, reading, sign language, etc. Although I find it to be outstanding academically, I am not impressed with the lack of enthusiasm by a few of the staff/teachers. As a teacher, you have to love what you do, or the children will surely notice. Also, great for those looking to place their child in very small class sizes (<10 per room), but the room size themselves are very small. All in all, if you have a quiet preschooler or infant who is looking to enroll in a challenging program, loves a schedule, doesn't need visual stimulation or lots of space to move around, this school is for you... However, if your child needs space, lots of learning tools, bright toys, etc....this probably isn't the place.

Clairmont School is one of the best Pre-K - K institutions which we had checked into when moving to Prince William County. The staff is dedicated to structured and educational excellence for all students. Small class sizes (< 15), two teachers per class room and strong reinforcement of positive work habits encouraged students to excell. Their reward is a truly superior level of education during their impressionable years.
