If my child didn't have such a good teacher we would have left this school long ago. The director Spring Wilson is terrible but we shouldn’t be surprised since this is her first position as a director with on the job training or lack thereof. She's rude, does not say good morning, does not return emails, does not keep parents in the loop of things going on at the school and mainly speaks to the parents that she’s in a clique with. She cannot answer some basic questions and lacks integrity. She would rather blame other employees instead of taking the leadership role. She talks over parents and is irritated when you try to talk to her in person. If you decide to put your child here you’ve be warned about what to expect. All that being said. The assistant director Sarah D. is awesome. She’s very respectful and treats all parents the same. She goes out of her way to make sure you have the information you need. However, you can tell at times that she’s only able to do so much because of her leadership.
The director, Spring, has the best personality and positive attitude and the assistant director, Sarah is the same. They always know everything going on with my child, the ups and the downs! The teachers, hands down the best. They have the most loving way of caring for children and are a great team. It's not a case of them handing out work and watching the children do it. They to are coloring with the children, having pretend picnics, singing along with the soNgs. They have the ability to redirect w/ the best songs & activities. Everyone at Wonderland is excited about learning & supports each child's growth. We are constantly in the loop, being provided specifics of our child's day and activities with pictures & even videos! The supportive team is always willing to work on whatever problems may arise.I often stop in to view my child through the lobby cameras & love the open door & open communication. It's always secure, though they know our entire family, each of us goes through the same secure check in/out procedure daily. Learning is not a chore at wonderland, it's part of the fun!
Wonderland Montessori of McKinney is a great school! The staff and teachers are the best around, they truly love every student there. All of the staff knows every child's name. Within 3 weeks of my 3 year old son moving up to the Primary class he was able to look at a map and name 15 states. My almost 5 year old son is reading, writing, and starting addition math problems. I am so happy that we made the decision to put our boy at Wonderland.
Wonderland is an amazing school with the best teachers and staff! Both my boys love going to school every day and have teachers who really care about their education, happiness and well-being. Ms. Spring and Ms. Sarah are awesome! Both of them were my older son's teachers before becoming administrators. They make the school a positive environment the minute you step in the front door. They are personable, friendly and welcoming to the kids and parents! Wonderland is such a wonderful school. My kids have grown and learned so much there. I have nothing but positive things to say about the school and the staff and encourage everyone to let their children attend school there! They really go above and beyond in every way possible! Love it!
Wonderland Montessori in McKinney is a great school. I have been taking my son there for almost 2 years and have had the best experience personally as well as my son has developed into a very polite, caring young boy. It's amazing how much he has learned and knows at the young age of 3! I give most of this credit to the teachers. I was shocked to read the most recent post on August 2014 regarding the director and lack of social skills. The one thing that I would never think to say about the director is that she is unsocial. Every morning I am greeted by the director or the receptionist depending on who is there. If I have questions she is always there to help me. I have never been shown anything but the most upmost respect from the director, she is Amazing, the entire staff is Amazing. It saddens me that the school received 1 star because of an obvious misunderstanding. I have dealt with poor directors in the past and I can say with the upmost confidence and sincerity that the current director is one of the best directors I have worked with. I am proud to have my son as Wonderland student.
The new director lacks social skills. This person is unable to say good morning and treats people disrespectfully. She has a bad attitude on a daily basis. She is not a good example for our kids and should work on her attitude. The receptionist on the other hand knows how to behave around people and is extremely courteous.
We love the variety of specials this school offers (Creative Art, Spanish, Sign Language, Drama, Computer, Music, and PE --- all at no additional cost, its incorporated in their academic day!) Our child has a hard time with change but the staff is always so warm and welcoming that he adapted far sooner than we imagined. The school offers so many different activities throughout the year, which makes it fun for us as well as our child!
I have been at the school for nearly 2 years and can't imagine working anywhere else! I am a person of high morals and values and I won't deny that I have left other jobs due to the lack of the above stated. I can, with 100% certainty, say that I believe in Wonderland. The Director is wonderful and will always help out however she can. She is thoughtful to all of the staff and parents alike and is all about giving back! She is one to give back to the families by doing things such as our Free Fall Festival and our Free Spring Fling. They are both about giving back to our families as well as the community. We have also done fundraisers where we donate proceeds to The Samaritan Inn in McKinney. The owners are also wonderful because they actually come to the school and aren't just a name. All of the teachers have met them and they will always take time to shake a hand and say hello! If the teachers ever need anything for the classrooms, whether it be new Montessori materials or a new piece of furniture, there is never hesitation or denial of the request. The management understands the importance of having the necessary items to maintain a positive environment for everyone!
My son has been going to this school since they opened and we have had a wonderful experience so far! The teachers are so friendly and comforting which is a big deal for my husband and I since my child has a hard time when it comes to changes. The thing I've noticed about this school that really stands out against the rest is that they are very clean and it always smells good! It never smells like dirty diapers! Lol! The tv monitors in the lobby make it that much easier to know that my son is happy before I leave, too. I also love that the meals are home-cooked so I know that my son isn't eating anything that I wouldn't approve of. And they are very accommodating when it comes to his special diet, as well, which is very comforting! So, in a nutshell, we don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon :)
Wonderland is a great place for my 2 month old and 4 year old. They offer a variety of academic specials from music, drama, Spanish, and a gardening club! Even my infant gets to enjoy music class! We are really looking forward to the summer camp they have planned! We are thankful for the dedication of the staff at Wonderland Montessori Academy of McKinney!
