This school is no longer a postitive learning envirenment for children. The curriculum is lackluster at best, and the teachers are not trained to meet the needs of the individual child. Attempts to discuss or suggest anything regarding our child were ignored. It has been a disappointing experience especially since the director left last year.
Great curriculum and patient teachers, they will work with children individualy to help them exceed in school, I love it! I recommend to moms with children that do not qualify for public pre school because they are reasonably priced for a private school
They love to teach and they love the kids. We are leaving the country and can only hope to get another school close to Crosspoint. The afternoon specials are fantastic!!!
Our twins went to Crosspoint for 3 years. Our intent was to expose them to other children (we live out of town) and give them some social interaction opportunities. However, we were shocked and delighted at the academic progress they made in such a non-competitive and relaxed atmosphere! Both of our boys started kindergarten in public school this year, and both tested at 4th Grade reading levels the second week of school. They are at the top of their class in all areas, including math and science, and have both entered the G/T program. I directly credit Crosspoint for the fun and hands-on approach that gave them the foundation they needed to excel. This is a fantastic place for exceptional children as well as children who need a little extra help. The kids had FUN. My shy little guy came out of his shell, and my outgoing little guy has grown!
Wonderful school. We have attended all 4 years and only wish we could continue. The teachers treat each child as an individual, the environment is loving and nurturing and academically my child is consistently above her peers in other schools. They are not concerned only with academics though, but in really seeing each child reach their very best as a person. They offer a wide variety of fun afternoon activities presented very much to stimulate a pre-schooler's mind. The science class is not to be missed!!
The academics at this school are exceptional and after attending this school for two years, my daughter has learned a great deal about science, drama , art math and reading. My daughter attended a science themed birthday party and I was shocked when she knew all sorts of things about electricity and different types of chemicals. She said her teacher at Crosspoint taught her. Everyone at the party was impressed that she knew the things she knew. She is four years old and knew that a tesla device creates static electricity! She takes two afternoon specials Drama, Gardening and also Art and Spanish. This school is fabulous and it is an exceptional christian and nurturing environment. My child is at the top of her class and the foundation she got at Crosspoint has a lot to do with it! Best school in Katy!
The environment at Crosspoint is safe and warm. However, the focus is not on academics. The teachers only have about 2-1/2 hours to teach all that is on the curriculum. The 'afternoon specials' are poorly designed, and as a result do not provide your child with what is promised. Crosspoint looks great on paper -- Music and Movement, Spanish class weekly, many of the 'afternoon specials' built around the arts. Unfortunately, Crosspoint does not deliver. My child is on the waitlist of several other Christian private schools in the area.
My children have both been going here for two years, and I highly recommend it. The opportunities for fun learning abound-the teachers employ very creative means to convey the materials to the kids, with plenty of hands-on experiences to bring a real-world meaning to the knowledge. They also ensure a positive and welcoming environment (other kids are referred to as 'friends' if we don't know their names yet), and the director is a constant hands-on presence both in the classrooms and during the morning devotion. The gentle, loving approach to the religious teachings makes even the more complex concepts tangible for the kids, which results in a complete understanding of the teachings. The classes are small (2 teachers to around 12 kids), so they foster a sense of community both within the individual classrooms and within the school as a whole. My kids will attend Crosspoint as long as possible.
The parental involvement for this school is great for those parents who have more time to give, as well as others who do not. They have a music and movement program, as well as spanish class. The curriculum is excellent (K reading is at the 1st grade level) and includes math and science in addition to reading. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a high quality pre-school/Kindergarten program. In addition, they have ample opportunities for social interaction outside of school.
I did not like this school. I pulled my daughter out after one week. This is not the place for exceptional children.
