ThIs daycare is great as long as you don't bring up any concerns about your child to them. If you do have a concern about the way the teacher treats your child they will not work with you to find a solution. Instead Ms. Stacy will make excuses as to why the teacher was justified in treating your child the way she did. She even had an excuse for why it was okay for this teacher to not allow my child to sleep with a pillow at naptime like all the other children. When I talked to her about my concerns and that I didn't feel comfortable leaving my child there with this particular teacher they told me they would not change his teacher. I was pretty surprised at their response considering I have my choice of day cares to put my child in and I pay good money for my child to attend. I also agree with the other review regarding poor communication. We were also brand-new to day care and I was always confused about what I was supposed to do and where I was supposed to take my child. There is a severe lack of communication and in my opinion a lack of compassion for children among some of the teachers.
My now 4 year old has been at Oak Park for almost a year. This was her first successful experience with any kind of school/daycare. We'd tried other daycares, but she was too shy and just wasn't ready. She has loved Oak Park from her first visit. Her teachers, Ms Patti and Ms Mirna especially, gave her exactly what she needed and understood how to comfort her when she was unsure how to handle new friends and new experiences. My soon to be 1st grader who happens to have autism attends 2 days a week during summer. The staff all know both my kids by name and go above and beyond to make my kids feel comfortable. My son who doesn't typically like school, loves coming here. During the summer they offer a number of additional field trips and activities for all ages at a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend Oak Park. The cost is about average for the area - something we'll gladly pay for happy children who look forward to coming to school every day!
My children have gone here for 3 years. Every teacher knows my kids. It is nice and reassuring. They are and have been very friendly. The office is top notch. They are always friendly and helpful with the most minor questions. This school has been taken over by the director and is doing great. They offer extra reading help, ballet, martial arts, stretch and grow program and other activities. My children feel safe there. This is a preschool with lessons, homework and grades on progress of specific tasks, not just a day care. Also, for those interested: it is very clean and well as updated on floor, carpet and wall paint within this last year.
The school and staff were on par for money that you pay, but the teacher that my child had was awuful. She spoke very rudely to the students. It felt more like a day care and not a classroom. Needless to say, our 1 day experience was all we needed to take our child away from this place. If you don't mind the "herding" mentality of the teacher, go for it. A big nay!
