Destiny Kid Academy5

Destiny Kid Academy has been a Godsend for me and my husband!!! When my child's care provider suffered a mild heart attack, we were forced to find a new provider. Our first stop was Destiny Kid Academy. When we arrived, the head teacher, Mrs. Jeanette, greeted us. My daughter immediately took to her! That was over 6 years ago. When my child entered Kinder, she was lengths ahead of her peers due to the curriculum she received at Destiny! She is currently in the first grade, completeing third grade work! I also have a 2yr. old that attends the daycare! He is learning by leaps and bounds, and has truly learned how to play with other children, hold a conversation, his numbers, colors, and the have DEFINITELY assisted with potty training! Kudos to the staff/teachers at this facility! They truly have the well-being, educational endeavors, and overall concern for my child in the forefront of their efforts!
The standards of the academy has declined and the values which was stated to both my husband and I have been falsified. At the start of the school year of 2013 we bought school supplies, where did they go?At the colder months all of the children were placed in one location, which is the gym. We wonder why you would place different age levels together in one area. Causing chaos to happen, children not listening, children doing whatever it is they want to do, and we highly feel that it is unacceptable and as a family we feel like money is wasted because of the lack of guidance, education, self respect and discipline that is not being enforced here. This place is a play house kids running, fighting, kissing, being disrespectful to one another along with the teachers, and nothing is being emphasized. The breakfast that I see served shows that our money isn t going towards the children. I see hard waffles and cereal being served, another thing that I noticed is that the restroom is filthy! It smells horrible, no paper towels for the children to use after they wash their hands, urine on floor, no soap.
My son went to Destiny Kid Academy for 3 years. I have also found that the director can come across negative and we have had our differences. I will say that their ultimate GOAL is to educate our kids. I didn't like are agree with everything Pastor Sue said are done.... My son entered kindergarten at Bray Elematary this year. The classwork and homework their working on he already know! THANKS! Destiny Kid Academy family for a great start for my son!
Director of Destiny Kid Academy I have decided it is time to write from our point of view. First of all, when parents are asked to find another Daycare because of their child's behavior problems in school they become disgruntled and very negative towards the school. We never ask a child to leave without first putting in to place a behavior plan which requires the cooperation of the parents. If after several weeks this does not work they are asked to leave so that all the children in the class may have the opportunity to learn without disruption for the other kids safety. If a child is moved to another class it is because we are trying to find a spot where it may be a better fit for him. We will also do this before we ask them to leave. We definitely are not a babysitting facility, our children have a schedule - curriculum with lesson plans that are followed. Most of the Children when leaving the Academy for public or private school test 1 year or more above their grade level. Teachers only use cell phones to call the Lead Teacher or the Director when they need help in the classroom. We watch on camera and they are NOT on their cell phones for any other reason.
By far the worst daycare I have ever had to encounter. The director is very negative, my child was always in different classes, I saw teachers on cell phones. My child didn't learn anything there. It's basically a babysitting facility that wants to get paid. Think twice before thinking to enroll in this daycare!!
Destiny Kids Academy has been a loving, caring and nurturing environment that fosters Christian principals. The food served has to follow guidelines already set in place. The choices are no different than other schools and are exactly what the kids may eat when away from the Academy. Perhaps looking at the big picture will help. "WAY TO GO" Destiny as you keep our loved ones SAFE and SECURE. Thank You for teaching, training and positioning our children for success.
In response to the last review on the meals served at Destiny Kid Academy, I am the food program manager and we are participants in the CACFP program and all of our meals, with the exception of our morning snack, this program helps pay for. They tell us what foods we can and can not purchase and all of our meals have to have certain elements from the food groups for them to be approved for us to serve. as for morning snack, because we serve breakfast we do not have to serve a morning snack but that is something we choose to do for our children and we do our best not to serve snacks that have a lot of sugar even then. I have been with the Academy for almost 7yrs., the amount of time the Academy has been open, and we have never had a parent complain about our menu. Our parents are always welcome to ask questions if they have one about our menu are they are certainly welcome to bring food for their child if they don't like what we serve. I do my best to put together 1) meals that will meet the requirements of the food program and 2) in meeting those requirements, meals I feel our children will eat so that money is not wasted. I just wanted to give a truthful perspective .
I've picked my daughter up on multiple occasions and have not been pleased with the small overcrowded rooms. The meals offered are loaded with sugar and very little nutritional value (especially for growing toddlers). Breakfast was Lucky Charms one day, Pop Tarts the next , cheese toast? Mid morning snack is Jelly Sandwich and water, pop tarts again. Lunch was Sausage links, hash-browns, mandarin oranges and pancakes? This is teaching and promoting obesity and poor health habits at 2 years old. They shouldn't be allowed to operate like this.
Totally agree with all of the reviews. Me and my husband went to this school while seeking child care for our son. When we walked in the lady in the front was on the phone arguing with someone and looked right at us and didn't even speak. So we just sat down assuming she would be ending her conversation to assist us after about waiting for 10 min with no acknowledgment we got up in left. So unprofessional!
the school is not organized the front office people are rude and care nothing about the students they leave there clasrooms to other teachers leaving them with more kids than they can handle they gossip alot even though they call themselves women of god
