Loving, nurturing environment. The director (Martha Duff) is fabulous. We have been at WCPS for almost 5 years, and I am very happy with the care and education my children have received from the loving community there.
WCPS is a wonderful and well-respected preschool. All of my children attended preschool there and had wonderful experiences. Also, I know for sure that the teacher that a parent was complaining about in a previous post is no longer at the school. There are wonderful things happening at the school and I highly recommend it!
WCPS overall is a good school - the teachers for 2, 3, and 4 year olds were strong. My son's teacher last year however complained constantly about how depressed she was and how she couldn't get her medications to work. Her behavior was unpredictable and frightening.
i've been thrilled with wcps! my son has been there for 4 years (moving out of state this summer, or we'd stick around for pre-k, as well) and each and every teacher has been beyond great -- loving, nurturing sweethearts. and the administration is very open and welcoming, as well. i've never heard a complaint like the one listed previously, but to each his own. my child is bright and well-adjusted -- and i've watched him continue to flourish under the wcps tutelage.
We had an extremely difficult time at this school, mainly due to their refusal to work with us with regards to our child's placement in a developmentally appropriate classroom. It was obvious to me from day one that our child was developmentally beyond the other children in the class (verbally, intellectually, socially). The year for us was a waste because the teachers spent most of their time working on potty training and behavior issues with the other children. Our child was the quiet, even-tempered, potty-trained, compliant one who got lost in the shuffle. I have spoken to other parents with kids at this school who report similar problems. We have since put our child in a different school, and I can honestly say our child is thriving and happy.
