Not a good school. I tried to stay but after expressing my worries to the office staff with no affirmation or reception, I decided that I was chasing my tail. One day I went to the administrator with real concerns and she did not "hear" me. I was polite. When I left, I opened the office door to ask one more question to overhear the director mocking me by saying the Senior Pastor will always defend her. At that point I realized the school did not have my child's best interest in hand as they were more concerned about being right than listening to parent after parent express concerns. Go to Grace, Sugar and Spice or OPP if you need a school that is nearby, listens, cares is organized and has highly trained teachers. At my sons evaluation, they told me I needed to put him in therapies after I had spent a lot of time through the year telling them about the therapies my son was in. There is no listening. Just defensiveness. Such a frustrating experience as a parent who desperately wants her child to have a great education. We were warned by other educators in the community to avoid this school. We regret not listening to them.
We attended last year. If you get the right teacher, it's a good school. Unfortunately, the staff changed frequently. The school doesnt have good organization. The office defers you to the teacher but if the teacher is not organized then the parents dont know what's going on. Some wonderful families here. I just wish the school was more organized and had more developmentally friendly curriculum. When I made suggestions, I found the office staff defensive rather than concerned for improvements. We arent returning. There are great teachers and leaders at the school but sometimes leadership needs to be changed so new growth can occur. In this busy world, I need to know what is going on with my child. The school made too many last minute changes with a poor notification system.
My son was at Wonderworks last year and had a wonderful experience! His teachers were very encouraging and loving. They taught him so much. As an educator myself I believe that my child was given opportunities to learn and that he felt save in his environment. I think the curriculum was full of joyful activities like music, Spanish, theme weeks, art work, games, etc. The only reason I am not giving this a 5 star is because I am not sure the school lunch provided was the healthiest choices (a problem in many schools), but I fixed that problem by packing my child's own lunches.
My daughter is on her 2nd year at Wonderworks and I couldn't be happier! She is learning so much and is much better prepared for Kindergarten than other children her age.
