The school advertises a 1:7 teacher-to-student ratio. While this does happen on occasion, the head of the school is very frequently absent, effective bringing the ratio to a less enthusiastic 1:14. But the ratio, while misrepresented is not the biggest problem academically; the students are given little to no guidance, and frequently can be seen aimlessly meandering. This is substandard for what parents seeking a Montessori education for their children would expect and is not what is expected in return for the higher cost of Montessori schools. The combination of the TRUE & TYPICAL teacher-to-student ratio, and the lack of guidance effectively makes this school a daycare. Parents who want a Montessori education for their children provided by a dedicated and genuinely focused staff and managed by a genuinely focused and professional head, should definitely look elsewhere. Flowers Montessori is an overpriced daycare and little else.

Flowers is wonderful! Our son is in his second year at this school and we couldn't be happier. The atmosphere is loving and kind and the kids are helped to solve problems on their own. The teachers are very good at what they do, guiding the students in their learning experience.

Flowers Montessori offers a loving and rich environment for preschoolers through kindergarten. This is a mixed age setting where students learn from and teach each other. There are 42 children with 7 teachers. Children work seperately and in small groups. Teachers move through the classrooms offering lessons to one or a few children at a time. The focus is on the needs of the individual child. Academics are particularly strong in math and language arts. The curriculum is varied and includes daily circle time and freeplay and many weekly group activities including Kindermusic, Spanish, yoga, dance, and gymbus. The playground is large and well-equipped. There is a special emphasis placed on respecting individuality and the multi-cultural world. Children learn to resolve their own disputes peacefully through the use of the peace table. Parents, families, and children come together for regular seasonal celebrations which reinforces the loving school community.
