This school was excellent for our son. His teacher was understanding, caring, and nurturing. She adored him and he thrived this year. Loved Redeemer Lutheran preschool. Also, even though we were not Lutheran the church community was very welcoming, kind, not pushy, and inviting. I really felt part of the community at this school. Can't recommend it enough here.

This is an excellent preschool and a fantastic value. Teachers are well educated in child development, very engaged (e.g. you will never find a teacher checking text messages at this school), experienced, etc. There is a lot of focus on socio-emotional skill development. Students learn those critical "sandbox skills": how to relate to others, control emotions, use our words, develop and keep friendships, respect, responsibility, manners, following the rules, etc. Creativity is also highly encouraged. My child brings home art projects daily that are her own works of art. The projects are not the work of adults. The facility is unparalleled in the "church preschool" category. There is a fenced-in playground, a natural play area, and a huge gym that is great when the weather isn't nice. The kids love their teachers. Every morning as I drop off my daughter, several of the children give big hugs to the teachers as they enter the classroom. Every child has learned to write his/her name and most, if not all, can read the names of their classmates. The director is very diligent about security. There are also opportunities to chaperone field trips or be a member on the preschool board.

I had my 2 kids on this school, but got disappointed. The director and facility are really good. The lead teachers know their curriculum, but i believe that the creative curriculum do not fit everyone. My son went to pre-K 4 and they don't teach ANY letters, or numbers, instead they work these concepts through projects with the group that have interest on it. My son never showed any interest in the writing table and he barely wrote or read anything at school. He's so unprepared for Kindergarden that we have to work with him in the afternoons to catch him up on letter identification, numbers, phonics, etc. and we are sending him to private school for a small teacher/child ratio. The communication with the teachers is really poor. There are newsletters from the teachers, but aside from that, we felt that certain activities in the classroom were not communicated appropriately to the parents on my both kid's classrooms. It was never clear if the kids needed to bring certain things for projects, or when. I feel that it doesn't fit to families with parents with full time jobs. It works for stay-home parent, that can be there, and have the time to reinforce academic concepts at home.

Our child has been in preschool for two years at Redeemer, and thriving. The teachers have been incredibly nutruring, easy to contact and supportive. They have also been understanding of changes in the home. The other kids and parents are also great to deal with - we've developed some great friends and find a nice mix of parents, but all professional, educated and friendly. This is not a highly structured academic preschool; they are learning through experiencing the world, but I'm impressed every day at what our preschooler has come home with through learning in her every day interaction. Manners and appropriate social behavior are developing well along with academics. Additionally, the facilities are very nice - the playground is great - safe but provides enough adventure for the kids to learn, explore and develop.
