My son was there for about a year. some of the teachers didn't seem very good and there was one teacher who looked annoyed with a baby when I went to pick up my son. She seemed like she was going to raise her voice. Changed my perception of that place and the director is not friendly either.

My two youngest daughters attended Young Child Development Center in Appleton for almost two years. We switched to a different provider due to a job change, but were extremely sad to leave. My girls still talk about Miss Mindy and Miss Sarah and the things they were taught and the fun they had. The team was always professional, friendly, and willing to help. More importantly my daughter's Kindergarten teacher was extremely impressed with how well-prepared she was for school. It's a great center in a convenient location.

The negative reviews shock me. We have 2 kids and have been at YCDC 9+ yrs - from birth thru Pre-k for both. I have always found the teachers to be well educated and professional, as well as the director. And when I have had issues (biting from their children, bad behavior, etc.), they were more than willing to listen to my concerns. The comment about snow fall is a flat out lie. They close only if Appleton schools close. Most centers are for profit, and their weekly rates are not as high as others in the area. The education is comparable to what a student would receive if enrolled in a public 3K/4K program. This will be one of the sites for Appleton's 4K program, so they are obviously doing things right to be chosen. Playground size/equipment is superior to other centers, and YCDC has a finished gym in the basement for rainy/cold days - a rarity. I've toured 12+ other centers as YCDC is a bit out of the way for us, but we have always stayed because of the facility and the staff. It is more expensive than in-home care, but I believe it is the best center in Appleton. Most important, our children loved it there! One is going to K'garten this year, and we are sad to leave.

Closes early and doesn't really stay with the rest of the daycares! At the blink of snow they will close. A daycare's job is to provide service and teaching so we can work, however, they frequently close for the lightest snow falls. 5 inches over 24 hours will cause closure! There are a couple good teachers, but definitely not worth the money as the director is very rude when you voice your concerns and tells you "Too bad!" Wow!
