This review is for the CHILD DEVELOPMENT LAB at Arizona State University (it's mis-named on this website). My husband, daughter, and I are all thrilled with the program. The director, Mary, has been working in education for over 30 years. She knows everything there is to know and can answer any question you have. Courtney, the lead teacher in my daughter's classroom, has the perfect disposition and skill set for the position; she is calm, encouraging, kind, and a great role model for my daughter. She has quickly addressed any issue we have brought to her attention. There is also a host of assistant teachers and student workers, so the children get intense individualized attention. The whole educator team has kept in close contact with us and shown true interest in my daughter's development. Families are engaged with the school (many parents work at the university and prize education). Some families may hesitate because there are no fancy high-tech learning devices, but I prefer it that way (there is outdoor space and a veggie garden). We feel so lucky to be part of this wonderful community and highly recommend it to anybody looking for a loving, nurturing, positive environment.

I make a list of items to discuss ahead of time. Then after the conference, I keep in touch. This also depends on how far into the year the conferences are.

First understand that teachers / schools make big deals over EVERYTHING. Second, no one knows your child better than you. Third, keep a frequent line of communication open with the teacher and conferences are just a recap... no surprises.
