FJECC is truly a remarkable preschool and community overall. I was struck even the first time I visited by how calm the children were and how well they were able to play together, as well as how much the teachers had thought through all aspects of the curriculum. There is a strong commitment to building community among the parents as well. Each area of the classroom moves through different new activities every single week, each grouped around a theme, and the teachers email a class newsletter with pictures each week so we know what the kids are doing. The "extended day" program is particularly wonderful with topics from cooking to digital photography to ball games. The teachers and other staff have real longevity with the school, most having worked there for many years. There is a partnership with a local Boston high school to read with the children, which is great for both groups. And the director has extensive background in early childhood education and is very helpful in pinpointing any issues a child may have early on and help get the right interventions if needed.

My 2 boys attended The Francis Jacobson Early Childhood Center (FJECC). As I have told all of my family and friends, this is a pre-school as only Boston can do. The director ensures that the curriculum keeps up with current best practices as well as maintains professional development as a cornerstone for staff so that they are able to keep up with best practices. There is a low student-teacher ratio, and the teachers are impressively qualified and absolutely amazing. The longevity of the teachers says it all! Not only did my children flourish in every realm at FJECC, they both also developed a foundation that has allowed them to flourish in environments beyond FJECC. Also, my husband and I and my children have developed lifelong relationships.

FJECC is a remarkable pre-school. All three of our children attended the school for a total of 7 years. The teachers are the heart of the environment at FJECC. The "Toddler Room" teachers have the youngest children and take unruly 2 yr olds and help them understand basic concepts of shared play in a happy environment. Our children then had the Red Room with Bev and Cindy. It's difficult to describe the professionalism of these teachers. They completely grasped the strengths and limitations of our kids. Parent conferences featured 5 page reports detailing our children in every facet of their personal and interpersonal abilities. Every week a newsletter with pics of them undertaking an adventure or mastering some new learning made me feel like I was a part of the classroom. The oldest children at the school are in the "Blue Room" with Lindsey and Natanya. They bring in the sense of the joy of learning that is so difficult to instill in young children. They learn to share and work together on complex multi-week projects. In seeing my children graduate tand watching them now at Park the lessons they learned at FJECC were the underpinnings of their academic skills and character.

The FJECC is an amazing preschool. The school is a "Best of Boston." It provides an excellent education along with a warm and wonderful environment. Being a part of the FJECC community is a gift for the entire family. Friendships are made and nurtured for both children and the families.
