WLCP is a wonderful place for your child to grow and learn at his or her own pace with the support of not only the amazing Teacher Cathy, but also of the parent helpers. Your child will learn valuable social skills through play and learn how to work cooperatively by the example set by the dedicated parents that enroll their students there. Of course, if you don't have the time and need more of a childcare situation, then look elsewhere. But if you do have the time and want to build friendships that last a lifetime while supporting a West Linn tradition...WLCP is the best!
WLCP parents are expected to parent help in the class (twice per month). Parents are expected to attend at least five (or more) two-hour evening general meetings during the school year to discuss fundraising, the budget, events happening at the school and so on. Parents are required to participate in all fundraisers and are expected and required to meet minimum fundraising goals or pay the difference out of their own pocket. Parents are required to sell $350 in Xmas Wreaths throughout the months of September & October. You re expected to sell at least $75 in tickets to the Peter Rabbit Breakfast and Carnival the school holds each year. Every parent is expected to hold a job in the school. If you re a busy parent, this school may not be a good fit for you.
WLCP is the best environment for parents who have the time and willingness to commit to their child's early development. It's very nurturing, educational, and very much geared towards a child's ability to learn through play and trying things for themselves. They even get involved in making their own snacks (pizza, cookies, muffins, etc). And the relationships that inevitably get developed become lifelong friendships.
This preschool is the answer for parents who really care about their childrens environment, health and exposure to fun. From the healthy snacks, to the educational field trips and commintment to community involvement, this school is an awesome place for children to learn and explore.
