Our son has been there for a year and a half, and we are primarily concerned with the teacher's communication with parents. At times, it feels as if they hate interacting with parents, and view it as the worst part of their job -- instead of partners -- which could help make kids achieve their very best. It is incredibly hard to actually speak with a teachers, as they have no email, are often not around if you pick your child up later in the day, and seem to resist technology in any form to enhance communication. When they do finally communicate with you, it is only for the wrongs your child has committed. Rarely, if ever, do we receive active praise that we take home and talk about with our child. As mentioned by a previous parent, they seem to take pride in repeating that their main goals are social skills (keeping hands to themselves, standing in line), not actual learning. It is difficult to understand why they can't do both. This preschool teachers seem reluctant to change or new ideas, and are are complacent in their old ways of teaching. The positive is the Dietary Director. She is constantly communicating with us to make sure our child is reacting well to the food given.
My son has been at this school for two years and has shown so much growth since being there. Teachers would share different things with me to help him grow even more and he was evaluated at the beginning of the school year and at the end. He learned so much, it was astonishing. We took our older daughter to two other preschools and she never got out of them what he got out of Learning Tree. I highly recommend this school and always tell my friends my great experiences with them and plan to send my youngest daughter there when she comes of age!!
Our son has been there for 3 years and we have not been impressed with the quality of teaching, child development know-how or professionalism of the program overall. Despite many attempts of getting feed-back, we never know how things are going. One year later our son never wants to go to school, despite having friendships and loving to learn. He has learned several songs and rhymes, but they literally told me that they are not interested that he knows his alphabet or is starting to read-- they are not concerned about this at his age. While we rarely get spontaneous feedback (though asked for) when we get a chance to talk to the teachers the feedback is usually negative or non-informative. (He is not throwing as many tantrums as last month-- we are just trying to focus on having the kids sit in a circle)
