Our son is in his second year at MCH and we are absolutely thrilled at his progress, the teaching staff and the parent community. After doing some research, we became convinced that the Montessori approach was the best for our child. In speaking with many parents and visiting MCH, we quickly realized this was the best place for him. The teachers are wonderful: they encourage a child while respecting his/her desire to chose an activity and learn at their own pace. The parent community is extremely involved, with parent volunteers contributing in numerous ways. More importantly, we've made a number of good friends as children often do play dates outside of school and there a number of activities for both families and sometimes just parents. Visit the school, talk to current or former parents and you will discover why we feel this is an excellent school for so many reasons.
We have been fortunate to have both of our children attend this wonderful school - and after our daughter finishes we will have been part of this school community for 5 years. We closely evaluated many preschools in the area and immediately recognized that this school was a uniquely warm and special environment. This is the result of highly talented, experienced and dedicated teaching staff coupled with the Montessori teaching methods that engage children in the love of inquisitive, confident exploration and learning. For anyone not familiar with Maria Montessori and how she developed her teaching methods, please do a little bit of research. You will soon understand why her philosophy and approach has remained timeless in preparing children for a lifelong love of learning and independence. Spend an hour at the school and you will be amazed at the unique and peaceful learning environment. The family community is highly diverse and welcoming. The school is also very generous and supportive to those needing financial assistance. Our older son comfortably transitioned to kindergarten - now in 2nd grade continues to benefit from the love of learning established in preschool.
We have 2 children that currently attend MCH and we believe it is a wonderful school community that fosters a very supported Montessori environment for all children. The purposefully and thoughtfully prepared classroom environments nurture the "whole child" through five principal curriculum areas that address practical, cognitive, social and creative learning. The MCH teachers and staff are the school's greatest strength. The teachers have deep and extensive Montessori training and many of them have been teaching at MCH for over a decade. They are warm, loving and unconditionally patient with their students, igniting a sense of exploration and discovery, allowing students to be self-guided but feeling supported at the same time. I continue to be impressed by the proactive engagement and involvement of this community. MCH is a very unique and authentic preschool that values diversity (cultural, ethnic, family structure and socioeconomic) and is grounded in Maria Montessori's philosophy which is based on a profound respect for an individual child's ability and innate motivation to learn.
