Great Beginnings Child Development Center in Curtis Park is the best preschool in Sacramento. We recommend it to everyone we know. It's a very progressive environment -- non-sexist, anti-biased, non-violent, no media (no TV/movie characters on clothing or discussed) and vegetarian. It offers a great combination of learning through play and fun projects/activities in learning centers that include language, art, math, science and sensory. Our two children were/are further ahead at age 4 than their parents when they were in kindergarten. And, Great Beginnings is much more well-rounded and fun than our 1970s preschool. Each age-specific room is very large, not cluttered, bright and extremely clean, The play yard is large and well shaded in the late afternoon. Lesson plans/activities are diverse, well thought out and placed outside of classrooms. Many of the teachers have been there for multiple years, and each one truly cares for the children. Our kids have been here from 16 months through pre-K, and our older child attends the owners private elementary school at Franklin Park Private School.
Over all seems like a nice place. They insist on packing a vegetarian lunch for your child. Lots of shaded areas where children can play. Staff seem friendly. They are of different cultures. The director has two grown children herself. My child dosn't mind being droped off here, or going here. She would tell me if something wasn't right.
