My daughter has attended Acorn for the past two years. At all times I have found the staff to be caring and attentive to all of the children. My daughter has become more confident during her time there and I believe this is due to the warm environment at the school. She has learned how to make friends and is well prepared for kindergarten. True, there isn't a lot of parent involvement but we have been able to meet other families through events at the school. Honestly, having an older child in a volunteer oriented school, I am ok that the school is self sufficient. I would not hesitate to recommend this school to others.

This school is filled to the brim with kids. If you are looking for a small, close relationship with your child's preschool..this is not the place for you. When dropping my child off here I often felt overwhelmed by the amount of kids that are in the building. I can just imagine how my child must have felt. I feel horrible for making my child attend here for the short time that he did. Moreover, the teachers did not seem to their jobs... I took him out shortly after and found a smaller school where he could actually form relationships with teachers and friends so he could actually enjoy his preschool experience. This school is way too big for children to develop the way that they should. My advice is to look around carefully and select a smaller school environment where your child can thrive instead of becoming a wallflower.

In the beginning, i absolutely loved this daycare/preschool. My child was in the care of ms.joyce and he loved it, which in turn made me very comfortable.he was switched because of his age and has been unhappy every since which causes me worry daily

I ask the teacher if she has a job for my son to do. He gets so excited to have a special job assigned to him (like putting out the toys, etc.), that he follows her away to do it which enables me to slip out. Once I'm out of sight, he does great!

This behavior can indicate any number of precursors at various ages. The number one thing each teacher must do is develop a relationship with the parent. The teacher will learn about the parenting practices, the child’s personality, temperament,... More »
