This was my children's first "daycare" experience, ages 4 & 5. The first week was very hard for us all... but since then, we have had a totally wonderful, educational experience. My kids who are very timid and shy, have learned more in their short time there then I could have anticipated, both academically and socially, and they absolutely love going to school and I have no doubt they will be ready for Public Kinder. They offer some extra-carricular classes during their time there as well that has been another great experience for my children. I couldn't ask for more caring and professional teachers and staff. Not perfect but I am extremely happy with Galaxy Ranch. It is a little more pricey than other "daycares" but just take a tour and you will see why...
Galaxy Ranch is simply an overpriced babysitter. It was highly recommended by other parents sending their children here. Now, I can only assume the recommendations were simply to justify spending that kind of money on a school. My first complaint is at age 3 they placed my son with children that would be in his same grade at school. The issue is my son was often 6-9 months older than the rest of the kids in his class, and therefore was never really challenged by the teachers. So far, 5 weeks into Kindergarden, we have been notified of continual behavioral issues including refusal to complete the required work, refusal to sit and leave classmates alone, as well as a small altercation where he hit a classmate. Today, he came home with a "sight word" test, where he scored 1 out of 4 words correctly. Some of the issues can be attributed to his strong personality. However, he is not the only child I know who has spent more than a year at Galaxy Ranch only to begin school with similar behavioral issues. At this point, I can only contrast the potential that I initially saw versus the reality of how my son is doing in a real school.
