Continued from above... ...if we weren't at the bus stop on time. A bit of a rude introduction, and one that made at least one kid cry. Then we get to the school, and go to class. We had a wonderful teacher who seemed to sincerely care, and had the brains to actually do our child some good. Unfortunately, we had less than 10 minutes with her before the principal called everyone into the all-purpose room for a 45 minute ego boost, where she stressed the most important thing the kids will learn is to obey directions. I don't teach my daughter to even listen to me blindly. I teach her to think, and question. The principal sung songs, and thoroughly enjoyed to get the kids, and then most adults, to jump, spin around, and follow other ridiculous direction like radio-controlled toys. Waste of time.

My son had a wonderful experience at the PLC! I was warmly welcomed into the building as a volunteer. The teacher always answered my questions quickly with a note or a phone call or email. The curriculum was excellent- my son received a great education. As a teacher, I was impressed with the progress he made. The building itself is set up to prevent casual drop-in visits, and in this day and age, that's a good thing- we need to keep our children safe. My one regret is that my daughter will miss out on this experience, as the school board has decided to shift the kindergartens back to their home schools.

We think our childs teacher is wonderful, but they do not let enough parent involvement. The administration is a horror to try to get an appt. with or get any issue resolved. We do like the teacher but more reading and a little math would be nice. They don't seem to challenge the children at all. If you plan on keeping your children in brick public school I guess it's o.k. because the rest of the childs school years will be spent the same way.

The Primary Learning Center has brought nothing but problems in my Grandson's life. I am very unhappy with administration. This school has overstepped its boundaries and upset this little guys life. He does not feel good about himself or his family since the 2nd week of school.

I make a list of items to discuss ahead of time. Then after the conference, I keep in touch. This also depends on how far into the year the conferences are.

First understand that teachers / schools make big deals over EVERYTHING. Second, no one knows your child better than you. Third, keep a frequent line of communication open with the teacher and conferences are just a recap... no surprises.
