Today my son, who woke up when it was still dark outside, asked me how it was possible that it could be light outside so quickly. Instead of offering a quick answer that probably would suffice, I decided to delve into the world of science. Using a water bottle as a prop for Earth, a label on the bottle to represent where my son is on the Earth, and my fist as a prop for the sun, I began to explain how the earth is always spinning subtly. I also explained that it's daytime during the times when my son (represented by the label) is facing the sun and night time when he is away from the sun. I then explained that the change in light that he witnessed this morning was the result of the earth's gradual spin toward the sun. I have to say I was extremely proud of myself, practically patting myself on the back when my son said, "yes, mommy, that's called rotation"!!! My husband and I were beyond amazed! I asked, "where did you learn about that"? My son proudly answered, "at school." My son is 4.5 years old and has attended Chesterbrook since September. This is a testament to the kind of work they do regularly. They teach, they challenge and they make it fun. We couldn't ask for more!

I cannot say enough great things about the school and the staff at Chesterbrook. As a new mother returning to work I was very nervous but they put me to ease and they are always available to answer questions or give advice in a caring, nonjudgmental way. My son is in the infant classroom and every single staff member has shown us love and care that we couldn't have even imagined. The grounds are well kept, the staff is knowledgeable, the room is clean, and the communication is great.

I think common core is going to produce a bunch of dumb adults. Once the kids are grown and out in the real world they aren't going to know how to solve any problem without writing out the answer step by step

I think common core will definitely make moving families feel more confident in their school district choices, but I definitely worry about the learning curve as common core is implemented.
