Small Steps Daycare School South5

Small Steps is a great facility with excellent programs for the children in their care. My son has attended Small Steps since he was 10 weeks old; he is currently 23 months old. He has learned so much at Small Steps! He constantly amazes us with the things he picks up at school because even at his young age, the teachers teach the students skills like counting and saying the alphabet- they don't just play with them. There is always a good mix of activities for the kids each day and my son absolutely loves school. I am an educator, so if I didn't believe that the program at Small Steps was good, I wouldn't keep my son enrolled there. Small Steps is great!
I love small steps. My son is 5 months. We started him in small steps at 14 weeks. The first two weeks were hard a lot of adjusting. But, once we were over the first part of getting everything worked out it went smoothly. He loves all the teachers. He gets excited when he sees them. He smiles at them. They are very prompt when he needs attention. They call me and let me know if he is having a bad day or if something isn't right. I like that I can stop in at any point during the day to see how he is doing and I can call whenever I want. I have to say this it really helped me going back to work knowing that my child is at a daycare that he likes and they are good to him.
This is the best daycare by far in York County. We moved to York County from another part of the state and were stressed about Child Care. We had our children in another local daycare for a few weeks and were very disappointed with the care there. We were lucky to get our kids into Small Steps. The teachers are wonderful! This is a structured learning environment while time is given to have fun as well. As far as the previous comment posted on May 9th, 2005 about this person hating Small Steps -- This is not my experience at all. My question to the parent who wrote this review is this -- If your child hated the daycare for 5 years why did you keep them there? This is a highly sought-after daycare in York County and I feel very lucky to have my children enrolled.
My child attended this day care from a child to 5th grade and he hated every minute of it. Small Steps is a lousy excuse for a day care. Also there are no extra-curricular activites are avalible to the students just playing kickball thats it!
I was very pleased with the kindegarten program at Small Steps. The reason I decided to have my son attend kindegarten there instead of a public school was because I was very pleased with the quality of daycare they provided since my child was 2 & 1/2. The staff is wonderful and they are great with the children! The quality of academics is superior! Last year when my child was in first grade we received a letter in May that indicated that at this point of the year the child should be able to read at a level of a 14, 15 or 16 with a 90-94% accuracy & my son scored a 21 with an advanced score in comprehension. Also, the kindegarten program included music, art, gym, and other extracurricular activities which included going on field trips. The parents were strongly encouraged to be involved and they were!
