All of my children have attended the Wetherill School (the older three have moved onto big kid school and the youngest is still at Wetherill.) It has been a wonderful school and community for the children and adults in our family. The teachers are caring and nurturing-and many of them have been there for years. The school fosters curiosity and creativity in the students. Parents are allowed to be as involved as they wish. It is exactly what we were looking for in a preschool!
This school is a gem--the warmth of the staff--who know every single child here--makes this a truly special place. My daughter loves the teachers--particularly Miss Donna and Miss Carol who she will have had for a total of 3 years. The instructional program is a wonderful mix of the best that Montessori, Dewey, Piaget and Reggio Emilia schools have to offer. The new principal, Marie Conti is a highly responsive and effective leader who has made this school even more remarkable. You should strongly consider this school if your child has a late Sept, Oct, Nov birthday (and misses the early Sept deadline for public school)-because they offer a kindergarten program which will keep your child stimulated + give your child a huge head start when they enter "official kindergarten" the following year. The facilities are a bit modest (church basement)but the classes are well equipped and the playground + nature area are very good. On top of the regular curriculum there is Nature, French/Spanish and Music and Movement classes. The parent involvement here is excellent. The location is the best: so safely tucked away in a residential area that even the neighbors have no idea it's there!
Warm, creative and nurturing! I have had two children at Wetherill and can't wait for my little one to start. The teachers are genuinely wonderful and fill the day with fun learning experiences! We couldn't love it more.
