I teach at TCHS Pennocks Bridge, which is apart of the CCIU. We are a vocational school of choice and our student go to their high school for half a day and then come to TCHS for vocational career training. Some of my junior and senior high school students spent this past year at TCHS-PB learning all of this curriculum and the skills that the state requires to become Certified Nursing Assistants. During July, while their friends went to the beach, they met the final requirements by fulfilling the 56 hours needed to complete the state requirements by providing hands on care at a local nursing home. Shortly after that experience, they took the state certification test (both written and skills) and passed to become Certified Nursing Assistants in the State of Pennsylvania. What a great achievement to be able to go out and get an entry level job in the healthcare field, all before they have even graduated from high school. Really proud of these students for keeping their eye on the prize...even in the summer.
