My son struggles with seperation anxiety and has always been home with me. When we started PUMC last year in the 3 year old program I was so nervous and he LOVED it!! He never shed a tear! The teachers were caring, responsive and very routine which is something kids at that age need. He knew exactly what to expect each day, he learned so much and made so many friends! His friendships have continued this year into the 4/5 year program and I am so thankful we found this preschool!! He has grown academically and socially~
PUMC Preschool is a fantastic school for young children! My children have participated in the 2 year old and 3 year old programs as well as the Kindergarten Enrichment program. Play-based education is developmentally appropriate. So much learning takes place as the children interact with each other and the classroom environment. The teachers are warm and caring.
The true test of how the PUMC preschool prepared my daughter came on Kindergarten Curriculum night. It was then that I realized that every dollar spent was well worth it. A fantastic program with even better teachers. Well done!
I love Powell United Methodist Church Preschool! My daughter completed the 3 year old and 4 year old preschool programs and now is in Olentangy Schools. She is Kindergarten ready and wants to learn more. PUMC preschool has been an outstanding learning and positive social environment for my daughter. My daughter made fast friends and had a blast! I highly recommend PUMC preschool!
My son attended PUMC as a 5 year old. He had a really rough time the year before at another preschool in town so I was nervous about how he would do. The teachers at PUMC were kind yet structured. He learned not only the tools for kindergarten but also discipline and patience for things like waiting in line. Kindergarten has been so smooth for him and our daugter starts PUMC soon in the 3 year old class and I can't wait to watch her grow. I highly recommend this preschool!
My son had an excellent experience at PUMC. He attended the 3's, 4's, and Kindergarten Enrichment program. My primary concern was always his health and safety; which was handled well the entire time. Additionally, the caring staff made the transition from home to school very easy. He was well prepared, both socially and academically for Kindergarten in the Olentangy district. The longevity of the staff also provided peace of mind. I would highly recommend PUMC preschool.
Both of my daughters have attended Powell United Methodist Church preschool, and we have had a fabulous experience. Our teachers have been warm and caring and both my girls loved going to preschool. My oldest daughter is currently in the first grade and PUMC preschool more than adequately prepared her for elementary school. Her kindergarten teacher commented many times on how much she was thriving and how well prepared both academically and socially she was. The school teaches through play - but they do teach all the fundamentals of letters, numbers and writing, as well as many topics animals, weather, calendars, etc... I would highly recommend PUMC preschool to anyone looking for a great school
I was extremely disappointed with Powell United Methodist Preschool and ended up taking my daughter out of the school. It should not be called a school as it is a glorified babysitting service. Most of my childs school 'portfolio' consisted of handprint art, pretty disappointing for a five year old program. There was no focus on kindergarten preparation. The teachers refused to address issues with bullies, provided another childs information during the parent/teacher conference, ignored the children during outdoor play, and appeared to be going through the motions. My understanding is the school is unaffiliated with the church which explains the total lack of values. I have since met many members of the church that have told me they would not send their children to the preschool.
