We are new to the school, so it's a bit early to say. Thus far, it seems to be a good place. The teachers are understanding of the difficulties for a child transitioning to a new setting. My son has a few bad habits with food, but they seem to be willing to help with breaking after we explained the situation.
The classes are a good size, and we have seen teachers give our son attention - reading to him and working with him. It doesn't seem like a daycare factory - it's much more like an individualized school. The children also seem to have plenty of time to play and socialize. I also like the focus on cleanliness and security.
There are certainly items that could be better for any institution, but nothing that causes great concern at this point.
Being a first time mom I had a very difficult time choosing the best care for my son once I returned to work. He was only 3 months old when he started and had a very smooth transition. Goddard has been amazing, they send me pics throughout the week which makes me feel good knowing he's doing well. The teachers are so sweet and truly care for the kids. They are so flexible and are always addressing any concerns I may have and I feel like they coparent with my husband and I. As my son grows and develops new skills they help ensure he excels and gets the proper time to continue to do well and enhance his new abilities. Even though he's only a few months old they still expose him to so much, they read to him all the time and they even do arts and crafts. All my friends talk about how advanced he is and I honestly believe it's because of the wonderful teachers at Goddard. Our family is blessed to be a part of the Goddard family!
We love this school! The atmosphere is very warm and nurturing, but we especially like the academic emphasis of the program. The teachers are great and our children love coming to school. The new management team is very professional and we like the direction they are taking the school. Our older child especially likes looking for the fish in the beautiful murals in the hallways. We can t say enough good things and we highly recommend it.
Very pleased with the Goddard School, Matthews. There was a bit of adjustment when the new owners came onboard; but the pains of management change, such as personnel turnover and communications issues, seem to have diminished greatly. The new owners are easy to speak with and are very accessible. We have also been pleased with the approachability of the teachers. It is truly more of a school than a daycare. We have two children attending and believe the teachers have learned our children's talents and weaknesses and work with each one as much as possible. Beyond working with the children on the standard letters and spelling, the teachers have a varying curriculum. Our children are even taught some Spanish and yoga poses. Guest "speakers" such as a veterinarian, a police officer, a scientist and a magician have been brought in to provide additional education and entertainment. All in all, we are very pleased and look forward to next year.
I wouldn't choose any other school. Highly recommend. My daughter attended the Goddard school from infant to pre-k and my son is there now. It is comforting to see that my son has many of the same teachers as my daughter did 5 years ago!! I've always been pleased with the staff and I couldn't imagine leaving my child with anyone else. Now that this is my second go round, I feel like we have become family with the staff there. I leave knowing my child is being comforted, taken care of, having fun while learning. Big plus, all the teachers make it a point to know my children and myself. My children are completely comfortable with the entire staff!
As a long-time parent I can truthfully say that this Goddard school is wonderful with teachers who have been there many years, are caring, dedicated, creative, and obviously love what they do. The staff is like family. They go above and beyond to make each day a fun and creative learning experience. I absolutely recommend it!
Two thumbs down! There is a lack of communication and very high turnover at this school. There have been some great teachers that have left so one can only think that it has to be due to the new owner. My child has went through 3 different teachers in one month and not once was there a communication that informed us of any of the changes. We are very unhappy with this place and are currently looking for a new center, I suggest you do the same.
The owner is very unprofessional and so are some of the staff there. I do not recommend this place if you are looking for quality care! It was a terrible experience for my family. We complained about our child's teacher and then she began neglecting him and was never reprimanded for it. This is not my idea of a school at all! This place is NOT at all what it seems so please don't be fooled.
My kid love it there and his classmates. Teachers are nice but the owner of the school always has an attitude and never answers your questions/requests. All she asks is for our tuition money and dont seem to concern anything else. My kid loves his teacher and his friends but there have been several meetings where the owner talks me down.
