I agree with some of the other reviewers about the management being very cold and distant. Unless you have a perfect and quiet child, do not send her/him there! Once the Director made a statement that a girl (at the age of 4) is perfect because she never speaks, hence never causes any trouble in the class. Some of the teachers are great but turnover is high.
My daughter has been here for over one year, I am very happy about the center. My friend's child was in another nearby center, then transferred to UNCCC and she is also happy about it. The teachers are nice. The only thing is that teacher turnover is a bit too high and they don't really learn anything, but with little kids that's not expected.
Many of parents in this daycare belive that this environment is a terrible place to leave your love one behind, but cheap enough in manhattan to keep many of these family there! In general, teachers' qualifications and performances is poor enough to give this administration not more than one or two stars max! Wish for a big change in this administration.
The management at this daycare leaves a lot to be desired. If the Director and Assistant Director were replaced with more humane people, perhaps the daycare would improve. A lot of the teachers are good but scared of the Director and follow her directions religiously, including taking toddlers and preschoolers who have meltdowns or tantrums to the office, where they are confined until the calm down - an extreme version of "time outs". The school can only handle well-behaved children. If a child acts a bit out of the ordinary, the teachers are not well-equipped to handle him or her. The administration should take a good look at its policies!
My son has been in this school since he was 2.5 years old and now he is 4 years old. The teacher he has had, especially Susan in Pre-School A and Glennis & Florence in Pre-School B are fantastic! Also, since UNCCC is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., this is great for parents who work at the UN.
