As a parent of a child who has been a Columbus Avenue student for two years now, I cannot say enough about the caring, friendly environment and the professional yet nuturing staff. I am welcomed by name each time I arrive by everyone from the school secretary, the nurse, and the hall guards to the assistant principal adn the principal herself, who also knows my son by name. He has achieved so much here under he watchful eyes of his teachers, and I am happy to say that I believe I made the right choice in keeping him there this year for Kindergarten, rather than move him to another of the elementary schools in Freeport.

Currently my son is in the Pre-K program. I believe strongly that the foundations of early childhood education are being met here. I am truly one satisfied parent. The experiences my son is having are amazing and happening in a truly warm and nurturing environment. I am fortunately able to 'pop in' and see for myself the ongoing interactions between staff and students. I will continue to keep my son there next year as opposed to opting for a different magnet site in Freeport. As a parent and teacher with a Masters Degree from Teachers College I know excellence when I see it!

I absolutely loved this school. Both of my daughters achieved so much thanks to the best teacher anyone could ever ask for, Janet Silverman. Thank you and we will miss you.
