Our children have been attending MANJ for 6 years. The school follows the Montessori International standard - guides "follow the child" (instead of one teacher standing up in front of the classroom, they observe each child, and gently encourage them according to their individual strengths) and classrooms are a mix of ages - which is really valuable for learning. It's a perfect environment for the independent child and fosters individual growth. No standardized tests or grades to hold your child back or require they adhere to the same things every other child their age is doing! The teachers and staff are open and caring. The school is set on a working farm - so children learn about sheep, goats, hens, and gardening - as well as traditional academics, and arts. The drama program here is also outstanding. My kids are super excited to return after Summer break each year - that should tell you something! It's worth a tour - make sure you read up on the Montessori method of teaching before you judge a Montessori school - it's fascinating!
This school used to have a great reputation, but the quality has gone downhill in the last few years. They are hiring less experienced teachers and the classrooms are crowded with kids. Kids will not be controlled well and the most "spirited" kids will be kicked out instead of given extra attention.
Great preschool! The faculty is helpful and caring. The environment promotes learning and the teaching method they use ~the Montessori method~ is a tried and true key for success. Overall Im very satisfied with the Montessori Academy of NJ! Ive sent both of my children there and I would definitely recommend you do the same. A solid choice.
A profit driven family-owned business. The children's well being is definitely not their priority. Classroom arrangement can be very different each year according to how many kids they accept that year. It can be chaotic in the classroom due to lack of staff. Director is rarely on site. This is not a good place for your child.
