Our two children have thrived at Open Door. Their 2s program is very nurturing and supportive, with a lot of care given by Mrs. Peri and her assistant teacher(s) to helping the children assimilate to a "school" environment. That said, there is lots of time for arts, crafts, stories and running around outside or (if weather demands) in the Big Room. The 3s program seems to be a little bit more structured, which seems to suit our child. Again, there seems to be a good balance between fun and learning. What a thrill our 3 1/2 year old had once she learned to zip her own jacket! Alethea Randazza is a strong, focused and personable administrator, and the parents committee organizes fun social events for parents.

As a parent of a 3 year old in this school for a year, I am still waiting to feel comfortable and welcomed with the director, teachers and board. It seems there is a lot of internal conflict and it's affecting the care and education of the children that are there. You get the feeling that the kids are shuffled about but no particular interest is paid to them. I don't feel that my child has learned a thing, it should really be considered a daycare and not a nursery 'school'. Very disappointing.
