Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

The policy are shady. This school is fine till 3 years. they take kids till oct 31st born. but still its ok but if i am paying a high school fees then the return is very low. working mom the school closes at 5.30pm, have very high schedule for holidays as compared to other private schools. they choose kids for christmas celebration performance, kindergarten kids getting selected ... they should have fun on the stage. thats all.. the principle is very rude. no performance report on parents teacher meeting day. i pulled out my 2 kids since i had to pay fees and baby sitter at the same time... this school is lucky to get students bcoz its in a highly populated area and near to train station that's all parents are looking for. they didn't even had a website... till this year....

The school is good but I think since its a private school. I have even been told that why are not putting your kid in PS. Jersey City area has very poor public schools. The policy not very clearly defined. The school session starts in the month of august but they take kids eligible till october 31st. This is OK. They have 2-3 classroom for each grade but they do not realize that a child who has turned 4 (but not meeting the criteria for next year)should be in the same classroom with other kids who are 3. Usually all schools have 3 - 31/2 in one classroom and then till 4.(This is a hypothetical example.) If you talk to the administration about this they say if you want pull your kid out. The listening power is missing in this schools. The fees are not cheap. Other private school in that area charges the same. I would not recommend this school after your kid turns 3.

My daughter started when she was 3 years old, she is now 4. My son who is10 months just started. I have lived in Jersey City my entire life and of all the day cares around JC I am blessed that both my children are here. The teachers are caring. This school is immaculate. They clean this school daily from top to bottom. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided. My daughter started pre-k and no longer have TV time and now have a true curriculum. Tuition is more than fair for the type of care and attention my children get.

Both of my children attend this school (2.5 and 1 year old). More than a childcare this a great school. I'm thankful to have found this place after years of looking for a location that I trusted to watch over my children.

I was very unhappy about the infant feeding, Baby is too small to hold the bottle hiself, the staff put the bottle on baby's body without leaning, so sometimes milk spilled on his face,Isn't it dangerous? And baby drinking is in the process of movement of the bouncer, so eatinto a lot of air, causing the baby indigestion even diarrhea.

My son has attended this school for over a year. He is currently 2 1/2 and enjoys going everyday to meet his teachers. He even talks about them over the weekend. When he was out for a few days, he would ask me, "Mommy can you call Mrs. **** and Mrs.****?" It's too funny when he asks of his teachers. This behavior assures he is in good hands. Last year, he had different teachers and they were not as pleasant as the two he has this year. The overally teacher quality for him this year is phenomonal! Thank you. I would like this school to allow parent involvement and/or parent volunteers.

I am very happy with the level of care that my daughter gets in this school. She is 2 1/2 and has been going there about 1 1/2 years. She knows all her ABC's, can count to 10 (sometimes a bit higher) in English AND Spanish, she knows her colors, and she know about every nursery rhyme/song there is! She seems to enjoy going and likes her friends & teachers there. I only have a few small complaints about the school- if they need you to bring something in for the kids they alert you almost the day before it is due which does not give you much time to get whatever they need. Also, it is a bit hard to get in touch with them- they dont answer the phones from 12-2 PM and even not during those hours they can be difficult to get ahold of. Also they do not handle storms and school closings very well- after Hurricane Sandy I have tried to get ahold of them to find out when they think they might re-open, with absolutely no success- no alerts, emails, calls, nothing- kind of a pain when you have to go back to work. Also they have a WHOLE LOT of holidays where the school is closed so I hope you have addt'l help. But even with all that it is still the best school in the area by far.

I am very happy with the care my son has gotten at St. Elizabeth's. He has been there since he was 18 months old and will be starting kindergarten there Aug 1. He has trouble in the beginning as I had just adopted him two months before he started at daycare and the teachers were able to work with his issues. He has some eating issues the ate lunch with him to help him out. He is secure, loved, and able to read. The price is excellent. Highly highly praise them.

I had my son there since he was 18mths old. The teachers are great! They start learning at a very young age. My son reads, writes, as well as adds and substracts at age 5. The sisters are kind. I think its def a great school and have no regrets of putting my son here. They do fundraising which is a con for me at least. Their facilities is great! Its clean and spacious. I would recommend this school to anyone.

I have had my son in St. Elizabeth since he was 3 months old. I loved that center even before I ever had a child. He loves his teachers and they love him. I like the pricing, but not the uniforms. The build is emaculate, quiet and full of learning. I see him growing leaps and bounds everyday. The cons as with any place, my son had a horrible experience with one teacher in the school which left me unhappy because he was hurt. I understand when things happen and he had just turned two. What I did not understand is when no one saw what happen. I don't like the fundraising and could do without the uniform for 2 and 3 year olds. But with all this said I do love St. Elizabeth and the education it provides my son. People complain that its to ridged, but I see it as structure. I would much rather have him able to sit, focus and learn. If you are that parent that wants your child to have free play and allowed to do what they want....St. Liz is not for you. They care for our children and it shows everyday when my son runs to his teacher with a big smile and hug. Thats worth more than what I am paying.

I agree with the previous parent posting. I have mix feeling about this school as well. Although my child is lucky enough to be in a class by a good leading teacher, there is concerns in general and in specific. My child is 27 months. In general, teacher to student radio is nearly 1:10. It's very hard to make a specific demand. They just can't handle it since they have so many kids in hand. I request the teacher to wash my kid's hand a few times a day since she's sick more often than others. I haven't seen that improvement. They sanitize but not wash which is still not the same. The principle is tough is well. I express my concern of my kid being moved up one level too fast and ask her to keep my child in the same class for a few more months. She didn't listen.

My husband and I really liked St. Elizabeth's when my daughter was an infant. This past year however, there has been a significant deterioration in the quality of the care she receives (she is 27 months). It might be just her teacher, but the children in her class spend close to 3 hours of the day strapped to their chairs in front of the TV. If they run around a lot and are very energetic, they are strapped down to a chair. Also, the teacher/child ratio is poor and fluctuates through the year. At one point there were 28 children with only 3 teachers. The staff are not communicative and the children don't receive individual attention. When parents raise concerns with the administrator, they are told to take their children out if they are not happy...which we are planning to do at the end of this school

...continued: unfortunately, the administration is stubborn enough to admit one teacher cant handle my child and another can. i think the problem is, apart from my child's shortcomings, the school is getting bigger and with the population or ratio of the class to a teacher increasing, the best solution the teachers want is head-on disciplinary action implemented, without regard to each child's individuality or different approaches that can be employed. bad thing, as well, is that when they call, they expect you to just leave your work and pick up your child or they call the dept of family affairs. bottomline, we finally decided to withdraw our child from the school and enroll our child elsewhere, where our child can learn far more.

I can not praise this school more. My older child has attended for over 2.5 yrs now and the yound one started last year as well. The center is very clean and organized, the teacher/sisters are extremely caring and professional. The children are all happy and well-behaved, and every parent I talked to there is happy with the school too. They also serve lunch and breakfast, included in tuition (very very reasonable, I pay for two the price I normally would have to pay for just one child). It's amazing what the children can do academically too. All around the best school I have found and I don't think anything else can be much better than this!

My son has been attending St. Elizabeth since he was 4 months old. It is an amazing school. and they are very attentive to the needs of our children. My son is 2y 3m at the present time and he can count to 10 (even higher, but he always forgets 11), and recognizes many letters in the alphabet and colors. In addition, the tuition is quite reasonable... in comparison to other schools that we have researched. I would suggest to anyone who works in the Hudson County area that they think about St. Elizabeth's. It is definitely the best day care in this area.

This is an excellent day care. My son is 3 years old and he loves it. This is his first year attending St. Elizabeth and I'm more than happy with the progress he has made. The teachers are so nice and the facilities are very clean. I highly recommended it.

My son has been at St. Elizabeth School since he was 4 months old, and I love it! My only issue is that they close for the whole month of July, which makes things a bot difficult. However, there are teachers who are willing to watch the children during that month. I would strongly recommend St. Elizabeth School (infant to Kindergarten) to anyone thinking of sending their child to a day care.

I love this place! My 4 1/2 year old son has been there since he was 18 months. My newborn (5 mos) has been there since he was 3 months. I love the idea that this is in a school enviornment (classrooms). My children are well taken care of, loved and love the staff. What more can a parent ask for?

My son has been attending St. Elizabeth's since he 2yrs 2mo, and I could not be happier with the care he has received there. It is a nurturing, loving environment with a wonderful structure that small children need. This is a wonderful daycare center/school for children from infancy through kindergarten.

I have an infant (4 months old) & a toddler (2 1/2 years old, who's been there since he was an infant) enrolled in that school. We just absolutely love this day care! Their schedule includes breakfast, art work, reading time, lunch, nap time, music/dancing, snack (for late pick-up). We're so fortunate to find them. My nephew, a graduate of that school, is able to read very well by the time he's 5 years old (e.g., I was surprised when he didn't stumble over the word 'lightning'). By the time they graduate from Kinder, they know their addition, subtraction & reading the clock with hands. The staff are very very patient & professional. They know how to handle tantrums & 'terrible twos'. As with hygiene, my children never came home with a diaper rash.

St Elizabeth Child Care Center is the cr me de la cr me center. I travel 12 miles, 4 times a day. Why? because I could not find a better daycare for my child. The curriculum follows European teaching, as I was raised. Breakfast and a hot lunch is served. The school is on a routine like clockwork and my daughter just loves it there. Most of the children there spend over 9 hours a day, the caregivers are so compassionate and giving. The staff is so dedicated, and since I have been there, three years, there has not been a staff turnaround. This in itself speaks volume, because a happy employee makes a child happy. St. Elizabeth has been in business for more than 50 yrs. The tradition continues, grandparents who who went to the school are now taking their grandchildren to the school. It's the best center I could find.

Parents, if you're looking for a nuturing environment for your young children (2 - 5), look no further than St. Elizabeth's. My daughter attended the school from ages 1 through 5, and received an excellent early childhood education. Coupled with a strong academic foundation, the center is extremely clean, secure, and the administration is professional and warm. They've been in operation for many years, and one visit will show you why - Anthony Jules

St. Elizabeth's is excellent! They have been around for years and I would highly recommend this school. They take children as little as 3 months old through Kindergarden.
