GP has a mixed age & kids from 2 years 9 months up to 5 1/2 years r in the same class room. When my daughter transitioned from the infant room to the preK class the teachers neglected to inform me that in the big kid class the kids are expected to be totally self sufficient . After about a week of her snacks not being touched I asked her why she wasn't eating snack & told me it was because she couldn't open the container & the teacher wouldn't help her. I asked the teacher the next day & to my surprise the teachers response was that they expect the kids to be self sufficient & that my daughter needs to be given containers that she can open. I was never told this was the policy & instead they let my daughter go w/out having snack. The teachers require the kids to stay on their mat for at least an hour & they will not wake them up, even if your child sleeps until 4pm in the afternoon. On several occasions my child was not allowed to have afternoon snack because she slept too long & snack was over, & long naps make it hard to go to sleep at night. The owner wasn't willing to be flexible & said it wasn't their policy to wake the children even if it was the parent's preference.
