Our whole family absolutely loved this school. It is such a warm, nurturing, and fun environment. We love that the kids in my daughter's class came from all over the world. It is such a unique experience to have that kind of diversity in the class. Every day, my daughter could not wait to go to school, and when she was sick, she was more upset about missing school than the actual illness. This is a play-based program, so you will never find your kid doing worksheets or sitting at a desk, but they manage to include "academic" curriculum in all kinds of ways, from using the attendance to learn addition and subtraction, to encouraging writing through fun art or journal projects, etc., I feel like my daughter practiced every skill you could want or expect a preschooler to learn. She made wonderful friends, enjoyed time with the teachers and the WashU work study students, and we were all sad that she is too old to go back next year. I feel lucky that we happened upon this wonderful school.
This is a gem of a school. My daughter thrived here and loved it. They emphasize socialization and learning to share/get along with others rather than a strict academic program, especially with the younger children. They do have a curriculum, and they definitely work on the necessary developmental skills in a gentle and age-appropriate way. The director and teachers have years of experience and are truly experts on children of this age. It's a warm and welcoming environment; the smell of baking cookies many days made me want to curl up in a reading corner and just spend the afternoon at this lovely little school.
