We have had a wonderful experience at Berkley. Everyone that I have ever talked to has said the same. I feel blessed that my child is able to have a positive and fun experience before kindergarten starts. The classroom is fun and the teachers are respectful of the children. The kids are allowed to experiment, create, and socialize with the teachers helping facilitate the classroom. The transition was more welcoming than we could have imagined. The children are encouraged to respect one another and are not taught to compete, but to help one another which is wonderful at this age. The language skills and knowledge that the children learn from the project construct environment is amazing because it is learning in such a fun and engaging way. Kids are not pressured to learn something but they naturally do learn in the engaging & meaningful environment. I also love that the meals are healthy. Every child must each the schools lunch so you don't have one kid bringing chips and a juice box while the next kid is eating veggies. I haven't seen any junk or processed food there yet. Only problem that I can see is that we need more preschools like this!! I highly recommend it.
This was the first school I toured when looking for an infant center for our first child. It was by far the worst experience. The tour was given as a group tour. The woman leading the tour was very pretentious and rude. At the start of the tour she had every parent say what age they were hoping to find a spot for and, eying everyone, listed off the likelihood getting that spot. I was appalled at her tone and mannerisms... I was in the early stages of my pregnancy at the time and left in tears. I'm glad to say that what I experienced there was quite unique... And not in a good way.
