Stephens College Childrens School5

Our family loves attending SCCS. Our oldest daughter is finishing preschool there this year and we feel she is very well prepared for kindergarten. Her class size is small and there are several teachers on hand at all times. Also, the parent community is very supportive.
My two children currently attend Stephens College Children's School, and we couldn't be happier. They are very different, but their academic and social needs are well met. They learn skills like time management, initiative, and leadership as early as kindergarten. The school operates like a big family with kids of all ages working together, which is so important for social development. They are not a "test oriented" school. If you want your child to score well on achievement tests, other schools in Columbia do a great job of teaching to standardized tests. If you want your child to be an enthusiastic and independent learner, Stephens would be an excellent fit.
This is one of a kind! It's small class sizes, very qualified teachers, and hands on learning opportunities provide an amazing learning environment for my children. There are always new and intriguing lessons being taught by the teachers and ore service teachers. The learning opportunities are based on students needs instead of levels!
After my child attended this school, my child had a teacher assessment scoring him in the lowest 10% in his grade level. MY child now gets extra help from the new school and gets extra help after school.
