The description of Little Flowers is incorrect--it accepts children from fourteen months on. That being said, choosing to go to Little Flowers was the best decision we have made as parents. Preethy's school is one of only a handful of Twin Cities Montessori schools that are AMI-certified. This means they are certified by the Italian Montessori certifying agency, they train their teachers (most of them are lifelong adherents to serious Montessori theory), and provide individualized teaching for each student. We live in Hopkins but drive up to the Plymouth location. It's more than worth it. Visit their website for accurate, updated information. And please choose an AMI-certified Montessori school. They cost the same as non-AMI certified programs and are heads and shoulders above the rest. Montessori was never copyrighted, so anyone can hang out a shingle as a Montessori school. Little Flowers is the real thing.
I absolutely must speak up in defense of the director of Little Flowers. You will not find a kinder, gentler, more caring individual. She is the sole reason I chose to send my child to this school above all others. My kids have been there more than two years, and she remains the most wonderful thing to have come into our lives when it comes to our children. I cannot imagine what would possess any parent to write such a bizarre review of these school. The lack of specifics may be taken at face value. If you go Montessori, you choose a specific type of education. You will not be able to go into any Montessori school and try to change the way the school is run, because good Montessori schools adhere religiously to Maria Montessori's beautiful theories. You know this going in. If you don't like it, don't choose Montessori education (which in my opinion is the most graceful, beautiful education a child can receive).
I am shocked at the 1 star rating and review from the parent on January 31, 2011. The director is one of the most passionate and dedicated people I've ever met. She truly lives the Montessori method. The teachers are no less amazing. Yes, there are rules...it's part of the method. But, along with those rules comes a peaceful, loving, nurturing environment that the children thrive in. They learn to be caring, empathetic, respectful and strong individuals while gaining an amazing education. I have watched my child blossom at LFM. She's excited to go everyday and the children there are so happy. The method isn't for every child/parent and I suspect this is what happened with the 1 star reviewer. It's not a place where your children will be free to run, yell and play all day. We visited other places that were like that and to us it felt too chaotic. LFM is a balance. There is a time for quiet learning and there is a time for running and playing. We HIGHLY recommend LFM to those who are looking for a Montessori education for their child. The biggest challenge it has posed to us is finding an elementary school as amazing at LFM is. Find out for yourself so you can choose wisely!
This is a great school if you are a parent who does not have a mind or opinions. The majority of the teachers are great, but the owner/director is more of a bully/dictator type. There are many other Montessori schools (and other preschools) in the area that will offer your child not only a wonderful educational environment, but a genuine and nurturing environment. Little Flowers Montessori was the worst experience for our family. It was traumatic to our child and to us. Do not let accreditations or eye-appealing indoor/outdoor environments fool you. Chose wisely!
A school that cares about the whole child- teaching from a global perspective, with a focus on peace and human kindness as well as holistic Montessori materials/lessons. Tuition is not cheap, but your child is sure to be leaps and bounds above his or her peers.
Great school for pre-school aged children. Montessori is the only way to go if you have bright children, and Little Flowers is an excellent Montessori.
The most important choice you will make that will start your child's academic career on solid footing, the right path- and a love for learning. Tuition isn't cheap. Excellent environment, staff and community.
Both of my daughters have gone there and I would highly recommend the school. I look for a school that cares more about the kids than the money.
