Salvation Army Day Care 2

The Salvation Army Day Care is okay--it costs the same as any other daycare but the programming is a little substandard than the competition. The teachers are nice, and I like the class interactions with the older adults (the "Grandparents"). The cons: There is almost no security in the center. The staff does not wear name tags. And it's hard to identify who is who, and who belongs in the classroom. There is no communication between teachers and parents. They don't update you on your child's progress. And trying to contact a teacher is nearly impossible, they rarely return messages. I don't know what my child is being taught. I heard they offer Christian based lessons but I have not seen it. If there is a family emergency/urgent issue, they require a 14 day notice before they can watch your child for a few extra hours; which I find unreasonable. I am taking my child to a MRI test bc it is urgently needed & the school wants a 14 day notice to make a change to watch my child for 2 extra hours. I gave them 1 week notice but that was not enough...as a single mom, this is extremely stressful,I wish they were more understanding. I like the Sal Army but there is room for improvement.

Salvation Army Day Care 3

My child is enrolled in their preschool program. Overall, I would give them a 4 rating. From a daycare standpoint I would rate them a 5. The teachers are very caring and kind. The flexibility for hours, days and times is great for working parents. From an educational standpoint I would rate them a 3. I wish education was a bigger focus. They do not do 6 month conferences with parents. Nor do they provide development progress sheets every six months. From a parent involvment standpoint I would rate them as a 1. I have never seen any meetings allowing parents to get involved. Nor, have I been given any follow-up worksheets or do at home enrichments. My child has had minor accidents while playing and notification was not made until pick up. Communication & parent involvement needs improvement. Overall, I would say this is a great daycare option for the price. They are very reasonably priced. The education piece I have decided to focus on at home and with other outside resources. So its perfect for me.
