The teaching staff is engaged, willing and able - management and ownership are another story. When you are paying a premium price and expecting an overall exceptional experience, this school is going to fall short. Parents are allowed extremely limited involvement, to the extent that they are not allowed to accompany field trips on the bus with children, and if they wish to volunteer to participate must drive separately. The whole franchising situation leaves a really bad taste in your mouth. Beautiful facility, great teachers (for the most part), but truly lacking in any effort at parent engagement.
The employees are fantastic, however they are unable to use their skills as licensed teachers by the owner. They do not discipline children appropriately, they don't have physical fitness alternatives if the weather does not permit, and they encourage a form of discipline which is outrageous (having naughty kids sit in the library to read, thus promoting a negative view of reading for preschoolers). The teachers try and want to make it better, but aren't allowed to use their professional license, because it could divert from the franchise curriculum. The owner is more interested in profit and money than education. He constantly sends emails discussing money and how he will have to raise tuition because of the heathcare act. Then tactlessly asks parents to contribute to the employee holiday celebration. I work for a non-profit and we don't even do that. I am so pleased my son has had the experience of the teachers, but the school is not ran to take care of children or encourage learning. The school is pretty and safe but that's what you are paying the 300/week for. Thankfully he will be transferring to the 4 Star Express program through the school district in 6 months!
