Minnetonka Montessori is a small preschool, very personal and charming and an excellent track record in the community. I was amazed when we began our children there how many of the parents were once students there, which is a fabulous testament to the school. A strong focus on reading, math and social skills. Exceptional preparedness for kindergarten or first grade. My children have all done their kindergarten year there, and they were extremely well-prepared for first grade. You will not find plastic toys here, you will find a classroom filled with beautiful, wooden, montessori materials and children who love to learn and interact with eachother. You will also find teacher who knows children and who encourages them to be the absolute best that they can be. Fabulous music program too!

This school is exceptional. It is a montessori preschool so things are done a little differently than a traditional play-based preschool. My child is excited to go to school every day. I can tell that he feels accepted and loved there. The teachers gets to know each child individually and work with parents as much as needed to make the child successful. I am amazed with how much the children learn, especially in pre-reading and reading skills. The best part is that the skills all come from the child's initiation, and at their own pace. Learn about this school and the montessori method, you won't be disappointed!

My children have been happily attending Minnetonka Montessori for a total of 4 years now, the oldest having moved onto elementary school. They love/ed going to school there. It is a warm and nurturing environment, as the teacher really gets to know the strengths and interests of each student and guides them in their exploration of many topics. They learn how to interact with peers and direct their own learning. Your child is not held back by the rest of the class if they are ready to advance further on a topic, such as geography, reading, mathematics, etc. . . Nor is a student left floundering or excluded if they are not ready to learn something. The instruction is truly personalized to the individual student. There is also a wonderful music class each week. A real sense of community. It is not a daycare or play-school.

After researching many preschools in my area I chose Minnetonka Montessori because it gave my children the foundation they needed to become motivated learners. My older children are still reeping the benefits from Minnetonka Montessori well into their elementary school years. The curiosity and love of learning that the directress instilled in them caused them to excel beyond their development age and grade level in school. The headstart it gives children is priceless. As a parent, I loved the 5 mornings a week because I was able to accomplish my tasks during the three hours they were in school and, in turn, I was to then able focus on having fun with my children for the rest of the day. No distractions. I feel so lucky that we found Minnetonka Montessori for our children.

A true Montessori experience. This is not a daycare. This is a school. Children attend 3 hours a day 5 days each week. There are 20 enrolled students who learn the Montessori method of working, respecting and trusting one another. Self control is taught gently at a very young age. Children learn cooperation, that is used outside the classroom with siblings and in life, even as they matriculate into the upper grades. Montessori students are reading ready and usually reading very much sooner than others, and they enjoy the type of (work materials (toys) the Montessori method has to offer. They learn Geometry and Geography, land forms and political boundaries and stroy writing well before they are aware this is actually school work. It is play to them as these are the materials made available to them to play with. 4 of our children attended for a total of 12 years.
