Child Development Lab

I can't say enough good things about MSU CDL. My son was previously in a small church-based preschool, but as it became obvious that he had some minor special needs, we realized that they really know how to work with him. I chose MSU CDL because, frankly, they were one of the few places that was willing to work with a non-potty-trained 4-year-old. Well, it has overall been just an AMAZING experience. My son loves his teachers, his student teachers and his classmates and can't wait for school every day. He has made massive strides socially and learns so much at school, in a fun, engaging way. (I never feel like the kids are overly focused on academics at a young age.) I really like the student teachers we've had (he's in his second semester in East Lansing and also attended one summer in East Lansing). They are generally quite young, it's true, but I find that they are very warm and enthusiastic, and my son gets very attached to them. If I have one complaint about CDL, it would be that I can't send my son here for his entire school experience!

We LOVE LOVE CDL! We finally found a daycare/preschool in this area that has everything we are looking for: highly qualified teachers, play-centered focus, respectful, kind staff that love what they do. The teacher-child rations are great, and the facilities are beautiful. They really know what they are doing.

Both of my children attended Child Development Lab and it was a very poor experience! The student teachers were the focus of instruction, not the preschool students. Because of the inexperience of the student teachers in dealing with children, the preschool students suffered. The student teachers lacked patience, education, and leadership to properly teach, care, and nurture the children. I do not recommend this school to anyone!
