My kid loves this school! I am so pleased with the variety of learning techniques used to enhance his learning. The teacher/student ratio is amazing- his teachers really know him. The children are given the opportunity to develop social skills, such as taking turns, listening to each other, and sitting still. (Really, they are captivated during story time). My little one is so proud of his daily "chore". He has developed a sense of responsibility and accomplishment from these tasks. I am also amazed the center has an indoor and outdoor space for play. The assortment of play equipment is equally impressive (riding toys, climbing structures, grocery and kitchen set up). I have not mentioned the art projects he brings home-definitely priceless works of art!! I do highly recommend The Discovery Center to families looking for daycare, preschool and kindergarten done right!!!
I had really awful experience with this daycare center few years back, I should have written the review earlier, but I guess I was busy :) Just checked their website, two of the teachers I had deal with before now are head key teachers, how interesting. I m thinking it back now, I was smart enough to pull my child out of the center within few months and found a lovely childcare Little Folks for my child, how fortunately, my child is growing beautifully. I m not going to the detail about what center had did or said to me and my family, but I will say that I was traumatized as a new parent, how traumatized? let me tell you, today I couldn t remember the center s name while I m thinking about the writing the review, believe it or not, I m driving pass the place twice per day and everyday, but I couldn t remember the name, I was trying very hard to forget that place and the place had gave me sleepless nights ..but I did remember the two teachers first names though. So if you are a new parent and/or single parent, and you child is bright and lively, then be aware and be care if you are sending your child to this center.
My child has been attending The Discovery Center for the last 2 years. I have absolutely no complaints about this school. The teachers are very nice and you can tell they really care about the kids. My child has learned so much! They even take the kids on 2 field trips a year, they have music concerts for the kids, and spanish class once a week. They also serve a nice lunch and that makes it nice so that I do not have to pack it. I love the location of the school and the fact that it is out of the busy downtown area. It makes it easier to access. I would recommend this school!
My son loves this preschool. The teachers are wonderful and take the time to listen to any concerns you have and work with your child to sort out the issues. the teachers always say good morning to us and let me know how his day has gone at pick up. I love this preschool - infact my next child will be starting here in September. I just hope my son's kindergarten is as good as this place, The facility is great - they just need a bigger car park!!
The teachers here are engaging and love their students. I have witnessed first hand the amount of planning that goes with every lesson here.
I, too, was not impressed with the teachers. They talked about the children in a negative manner within earshot of other children and parents. The primary focus seemed to be on compliance with their structure rather than motivating the child to engage with the other children and teachers. The facility was nice.
I second what the previous poster said about teachers who are out of the door and in their car before you have a chance to even get your things. They say they are open till 5:30 pm but are in a bad mood if you reach after 5:00 pm. The teachers just sit around and are always complaining -incessantly negative. Maybe they should get some younger, more upbeat teachers who at least say good morning to you and your child even at the expense of all these degrees they seem to have.
Questionable teachers who can't wait to be done at the end of the day and spend more time sitting than interacting with children. We pulled our child out of this school after a year. In this economy, there must be better people out there. The building is nice, but the teachers were often just lazy and would complain about the kids within earshot. Very sad.
my son has been going here for a year and we love it. it's been a great place for him to learn and have fun, the teachers are very friendly and they have a very low staff turn-over rate. they have helped us potty train our son and offer volunteer opportunities in the classroom. i love this preschool and we checked out 12 in the area before setteling in this one!
Our daughter attended the Summer Explorers Camp and is now a morning student, we love the program, facility and very dedicated and highly qualified teachers. A wonderful school!
