Briarwood Child Academy is the best place that I have ever worked! The team of teachers work very well together and are supportive of each other's needs. They do an incredible job teaching and caring for their students each and every day. The administration is always available to listen to any suggestions, concerns or accolades concerning the center. The parents and students that I have the pleasure of working with make my job very enjoyable every day!
My son and daughter both attend Briarwood Child Academy in North Smithfield. We were worried about putting our children in daycare but circumstances changed for us and had to do so. We never thought that it would be such a positive experience for our whole family! Our son is in one of the infant rooms and we get notifications throughout the entire day letting us know what he is up to! We can message the teachers and always get quick responses and even pictures! Our daughter is in the pre-k program and has learned so much! Her favorite day is Culinary Art day! Maybe she'll be a better cook than me! To top it all off, Briarwood hosts the BEST family events including an incredible Halloween party. We all get to go and even our parents attend! Would I recommend this school to other families? ABSOLUTELY YES!!
My son has been through Briarwood's toddler and pre-k programs, and I must say how wonderful our experience has been. Everything, from the teachers ad administration to the curriculum and enrichment programs, is exceptional. Briarwood truly is the best child care center around. True to their name, they are not just a daycare, but an academy. My son is learning so much and I a confident that he will be prepared for and excel in Kindergarten and beyond. He is currently reading at the level of a typical first grader in September, thanks to his awesome teachers at Briarwood. I am a second grade teacher and I would choose to send my child to Briarwood over the public schools every time. I am not sure why there are negative reviews as all of my experiences with Briarwood over the past few years have been nothing but positive. As a teacher and parent I highly recommend Briarwood Child Academy, definitely check them out!
As a new teacher coming in, I have to say the staff & director at Briarwood are all so welcoming & kind! Briarwood offers music, gym, & culinary for the children, as well as daily activities & enrichment. The play space outside is amazing! I must say, I've never worked at a school with so much to do right on site. I'm happy to be working with such an awesome director, a great group of teachers & of course... The best part..... The children!!!
Briarwood Child Academy is a wonderful school! The teachers and director there are welcoming and always make us feel that our children are well taken care of and happy at school. The director makes it a point to have good communication with parents, and I always feel that I am "In the know," which is very important to a parent. With monthly concepts, music, gym class, and culinary arts, field trips, and special events I feel that my child is truly getting a well rounded education. My son and daughter love attending school, and are always happy to be there. After reading other not so positive reviews on this site, I can say that my experience here has been nothing but wonderful, and I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for quality care for their children!
Zero communication between the administration and the parents. We would go weeks without being told that our child's teacher was fired and they were with someone new (this happened multiple times). All of the good reviews are from before the ownership changed last fall (of 2013) and it went straight downhill from there. Unable to hold onto any decent teachers. Our two children went through at least 12 teachers in the 11 months they were there! They staff so tightly that they'll have an office person like the accountant or their marketing guy in the classroom with the kids to meet the "teacher" to student ratio. The teachers that were left when we finally gave up were nice enough, but appeared to be drastically inexperienced and really just glorified babysitters. The owner appears unaware of how to run a daycare facility, staffing it with what appears to be the cheapest labor (young inexperienced staff) that can be found. The best decision we ever made was to give up and pull them out. There are better options in the area, and after two weeks at their new school, our kids love it! Seriously, as one parent to another, do not waste your time with Briarwood!
This school is one of the worst run school I have every had the displeasure of dealing with they are constantly off ration teacher/student the teachers are overwhelmed and dont have time to deal with the children appropriately and therefore get stressed out and are not nice to the children They cannot keep a teacher or a director for any length of time. If I could give them 0 stars I would. This is the most unprofessional and poorly run school I have ever known I had to pull my child out of the preschoold class due to their incompetence. I would say run dont walk to another school!!! They have new owners so the good reviews are from the previous school owners. The new owners have destroyed the school with their mismanagement!!!
The teachers were very good and care about the children. The leadership was less than helpful. I had difficulty finding answers to questions and we experienced a lack of communication with the administration. We removed our child from Briarwood Academy in Seekonk. Very disappointing.
I've been using Briarwood since 2000 (shortly after the school opened their doors). I have 5 children (3 through 16 years old). We switched the daycare of my oldest two twice and can attest to numerous less than desireable experiences with both schools. When my third child arrived I literally cried after looking at all local facility based schools in the area. Thankfully a friend encouraged me to look into Briarwood as the facility had just opened. It's history from there as they say. We love it love it love it! If you don't then you have to experience the other less than desirable places out there. Our 3rd and 4th child attended since infants and our 5th is currently enrolled. Our 'Briarwood Graduates' ask to go back and visit the warm and friend Administrators and Staff at Briarwood all the time and they are always welcomed. We highly recommend Briarwood.
My husband and I first learned of Briarwood in July of 2008 when we moved from Providence to Seekonk. Our new next door neighbor had been sending her son there and was very pleased with the School. At that time, we were looking for a daycare/pre-school for our son. We called and arragned for a tour and we very impressed with what we experienced. Everyone was very friendly and quick to answer our questions. Teachers were busy with the children. We also felt very good about the school's safety policies. The outside play area was very spacious (something hard to find nowadays). Our son has been there since Novber of 2008 and he has been doing very well there. We like the part time rates and highly reccomend the school.
