The Kendall School has been the perfect combination of play and learning for our son. The curriculum includes free play, and teacher-led music, science, language, cooking, drama, and dance. The kids love it - we see very few meltdowns at drop off. The teachers are early childhood education experts and are all friendly and accessible. The early morning program starts at 8am and the extended day goes until 5:30pm, which is more accommodating than most programs for working parents and you can take advantage of these programs on any day. Also the "Kendall-K" is the Kendall School kindergarten program for kids that turn 5 in the fall, missing the cutoff for kindergarten at the public schools. We have found this program to be excellent for our son who now has learned his numbers (including counting by tens) and letters (upper and lower) and is beginning to read. There is an emphasis on all the fundamentals of math, language, and reading. The staff is also expert in fostering a nurturing and friendly social environment that reinforces kindness and cooperation.
Over the past 4 years I have had 3 children attend the Kendall School. From my first visit I knew this school would be a great fit for my family. The director was professional and efficient, the school was warm and welcoming and the teachers were in tune with the needs of each child. Each class has a wonderful student/teacher ratio and my children have learned so much at Kendall School. They have also made wonderful friends at the school who have come to the Belmont area from all over the world. We have taken advantage of the afternoon enrichment classes of science, dance, foreign language, cooking and drama and have enjoyed the flexibility of the extended day program when we needed it. My children are well prepared for kindergarten after attending Kendall School and the transition was smooth and easy. My children also love the outdoor play area and look forward ot that every day. It is a great pre-school experience.
There are not enough positive, pleasant, powerful words on this planet to help me describe how absolutely perfect Kendall School is. We are so blessed to have found this jewel in the middle of Belmont. The curriculum at Kendall is unlike all others. Every morning is started off with 45 minutes of music and singing accompanied by a pianist while every afternoon has its own theme including science, drama, dance, cooking, and French / Spanish / ESL. The teachers are extremely engaged in each child's needs and the loving environment that they have created is second to none. I encourage all parents to take a look at Kendall School as the minute you walk into their federal style gorgeous home, you will immediately know that you have found the perfect preschool for your precious little one.
The Kendall school has the perfect balance between academics, free play, and enrichment. My 5 children have all benefitted from the daily music classes and introduction to pre-school math and literacy that occurs every day. They have also enjoyed the drama classes and just digging around in the playground. The school is diverse and has several traditional celebrations that bring all the parents together. It is a great pre-school for kids who are ready to explore their world and to ask many questions. The teachers are fantastic and ready to handle any situation.
As a concerned citizen I must say that I am amazed that any parent would send his/her child to this school. After speaking with the director I cannot believe that people would trust their child to this person. Rude, inconsiderate, mean and disrespectful are not qualities or characteristics that I believe should be around children nor possessed by people who teach children. I do not doubt the ability and qualifications of the teachers I am sure they are excellent, it is the director that concerns me and I felt compelled to warn others about this.
We were very happy with Kendall School and staff for our daughter, unfortunately we had to return to Australia and we miss the school greatly.
We are extremely pleased with our daughter's experience at the Kendall School. The school offers a learning environment through both instruction and play. We especially like the daily exposure to 'music time' where the children learn and sing songs (with all the school children in attendance and a piano teacher)!
