This is our daughter's first year in Pre-K, and we have loved it. She comes home very excited about the day she had and the other parents are wonderful. She'll be there again next year!!
I can't say enough good things about Magothy, it is my dream preschool. The supportive atmosphere, caring staff and volunteers, and creative classrooms have made the past two years a wonderful transition from home to school for my son. I can't wait till my next little one is old enough to enroll!
This is a great Preschool for the parent that wants to be involved in their child's education. My son has learned so much at this school, both academic and social. The teachers are fantastic. The children learn by a hands on approach, they learn to explore and investigate their surroundings. My son is 4 and he can already write most of his ABC's and is starting to sound out words. Since this is a Coop the parent can be as involved as they want in the school and their child's learning. Come in and see for yourself, you wont be sorry!!
Magothy Cooperative was a fantastic preschool experience for both my kids! It is a wonderful combination of hands on learning directed by teachers and supported by parents.
Students are challenged academically during circle time, and yet there is a balance of letting the kids choose what stations they want to participate in during the other part of class. The science center is awesome and constantly changing. The new native rain gardens were planted by students and volunteers and will be integrated into the curriculum as the school pursues a 'Green School" certification.
It never ceases to amaze when I compare Magothy Cooperative's curriculum, staff, classroom space, materials to other local preschools how Magothy has them beat. I think many people are intimidated by the word Cooperative though. Really, coming in 1 or 2 times a month to volunteer in the classroom is not bad at all. The school is affordable, provides snack, pays for the field trips; best value by far.
As a former educator, who quit to stay how with her four children, I sought out a preschool which allowed me to be hands-on with my children's early childhood education. This program is for parents who want to help in the classroom, who want to go on field trips, who want to contribute to their child's education by making the play-dough or leading a class nature walk.
My daughter attended Magothy for two years before moving on to first grade, and we both LOVED it! Their unique approach to learning stimulated her to love school. and she continues to excel as she enters the third grade. We also loved the family atmosphere, and developed relationships that continue today. I highly recommend it!
I am very happy to be a part of the Magothy Coop family. My children have benefited from the preschool experience. The school provides a hands-on approach to educating your children. The teachers are wonderful. It is a commitment but well worth investing in your child's future.
Magothy is a unique school in that parents can work hand in hand with the teachers in creating an stimulating and creative learning environment for their children. The teachers combine the best of teaching practices by using learning centers, small group rotation, one on one work, direct whole group instruction and facilitating independant work. The children have twice the classroom space and half the class size of average schoools. It is also one of the more inexpensive schools available.
