I have to STRONGLY disagree with the previous comment. I have personally volunteered in the school and have witnessed the tireless care and concern that Ms. Jen and Ms. Krista have given towards "difficult" situations. They created behavior charts, utilized a stop light system and constantly worked with parents communicating, planning and executing plans that were created specifically for "difficult" situations. It helps to volunteer, it keeps you in the know!
My children have been very happy at Nichols-Bethel. Ms. Jen and Ms. Krista are excellent teachers, very patient with the children, and always energetic. We love it here! Right off the bat, I feel like my children are learning so much more than I ever expected; how to write the alphabet, how to draw shapes. The review from 2008 is absolutely out of date, because my children are certainly learning (and using) the alphabet in school. I'm so happy I chose to send my children here!
This school is awesome! The school's directorship changed in 2009, upon the retiremnt of the previous director who served 30 years. The teachers are degreed in education, are excited to teach, encourage parent communication and involvement and just LOVE what they do...and it shows! The new director has stepped up the academic components so that children are definitely ready to enter kindergarten yet she allows kids the time and space to "just be kids." The Christian aspect of the program is fabulous and the teachers are able to really teach the kids about morality and what it means to be thankful, generous, courageous, etc. The kids are learning without even knowing they are learning. LOVE this school. My three kids have all been through the 3 and 4 year old programs.
LOVE this school. Our daughter attended both their 3 and 4 year old programs. Well structured and organized. They provide some work with ABC's (letter of the week), standing in line and following directions, calendar, numbers, printing, homework, prayer, holiday studies and other theme-based units. I felt that their work with the children is appropriate for pre-K programs. Our daughter loved it.
A very low-key type preschool with an emphasis on traditional preschool activities-- music, art, puppet shows, snacks, etc. If you want your child to learn ABCs at school, don't send your child here. But if you want your child to be socially, emotionally and physically ready to learn in kindergarten, this is an excellent school.
