John Calvin Playschool is a wonderful school with nurturing teachers and a beautiful, clean campus (especially the playground). On that note, my son loves playing on the new mini basketball goal and the colorful paint (arrows, stop sign, line up area) allows the students to "understand expectations" and learn the expectations on their own. JCPS teaches kids on their level and makes school fun. A child s first school experience is important and I am so grateful that my kids are having such a positive experience. I am very pleased with everything offered at John Calvin and truly appreciate the family-oriented atmosphere (the director is at every event, with her personal family) and the special activities that are geared for the little ones. I would highly recommend this school!!!! P.S. - The new Director is top notch (I had one graduate 4 years ago and one presently enrolled - seen the work first hand) - kudos for her hard work and desire to make JCPS second to none. She has implemented many policies, all of which are student/safety based..

The teachers and administration are great. My older child was the youngest in her kindergarten class but was extremely well prepared. The school has a very warm environment and very professional approach. My second child is now a student there and was disappointed when she couldn't attend school during the Easter break.

The new administration is not only unprofessional, they are unethical in their discipline process. I moved my child from there and would not recommend this school to anyone.

I feel there are some sour grape reviews from parents who were friendly with the previous administration and who can't handle changes. This is the best group of teachers out there. Everyone there is SO nice and knows my childs name and makes a point to say hello to both of us when we enter the campus. The kids love it here and they do so many projects and special events. Every day they come home with multiple projects and stories of what they did. The music program, art and body movement are all outstanding. And to the ridiculous reviews about it being a playschool...duh! It is called a playschool. If you read any of the materials related to the school you would see it is based on play and center-based learning approaches. The kids learn through playing, not sitting at a desk running curriculum. This works very well with kids age 2-4. A little bit of information on YOUR part might have helped you to realize that this was the program objective.

John Calvin more than prepared my child for her current school. It was a wonderful experience. I am shocked to see such negative comments. Take a tour and see for yourself!

I was totally shocked to hear a bad review about john calvin I have never heard a bad thing about this school. My children have gone there and now I have another starting next year and can't wait. tThe teachers are always so happy and nurturing I dont know what teacher you are talking about because all the teachers are great, from 2 year teachers to developemental kindergarten. every teacher has always been great.

John Calvin has been a blessing for our family. We have three girls who have attended the school. We are saddened that our last will graduate from the Developmental Kindergarten class this year. The girls all started in the three year program. The teachers are very professional and treat each child as a individual. They provide high-quality education with an emphasis on play fostering creativity and high self esteem. Our two oldest are doing beautifully at there grammer school due to their wonderful start.

I may be the odd one out, but John Calvin was a terrible experience for my family. Yes the campus is well taken care of, but not he children. I felt that most of the teachers were there only for a paycheck. There was no loving, caring upbeat environment for us. Most mornings the teachers didn't even have a smile on there face. As far as the safety of your child, just pass by when the children are out on the playground and you'll see for yourself. The teachers are huddled together chatting and the children are scattered throughout the playground. My child, thankfully, was never injured, but other parents have mentioned minor injuries/incidents to their children on the playground. I had always heard such great things about John Calvin, but none of those rang true. Sorry to say, but I wouldn't recommend anyone sending there child there.

Amazing preschool! I can not fathom how any parent could not be pleased with John Calvin. Every day my son comes home and tells me about what he has learned, songs he sang and activities. The playground area is very nice, and the classrooms are always clean and decorated beautifully! It is a blessing to know that when I send him to school everyday he is safe and in a loving, learning, and happy environment.

If you are looking for a 'playschool' this may be for you. This is not a 'preschool' where they are learning. Teachers are old and are basically babysitters. Not the school it used to be in years past! Things have definately taken a turn for the worse with the new administration. I moved my child from here!
