Kids are respected, encouraged to try again, encouraged to choose their words. But this is not a competitive school, so while it helps develop a strong character, these words seem to competition-based to me.
This is the first-school experience I always imagined for my child. We just completed our first year and I am so, so happy with our experience. This school offers an opportunity to be involved with your child's learning experience, to really get to know the teachers, the students and the other families. The work commitment is pretty minimal (the number of times your child attends a week per 6 weeks…so if you go 1 day a week, you work 1x in 6 weeks. If your child attends 3x/week, you would work 3x in 6 weeks). The emphasis is on learning through play and the kids are encouraged to explore and experiment. Outside time is given major priority and the playgrounds have many ways to enjoy and explore nature. I also appreciate the way the kids are encouraged to resolve issues. At Co-op, everyone is a friend, and everyone gets to play. Children are respected and their voices are heard. Our experience has helped me to be a better parent.
Absolutely the best preschool in town! Teachers have a wealth of experience and the not only take excellent care of the children but pride themselves on making it a inclusive community for all families!
We loved our experience in Mrs. Thompson's 2 year old class at co-op!! With wonderful teachers and parent involvement, no child gets "left behind" and any personality can be accommodated. My son was a shy child, but they did a great job helping him socialize and stay engaged each day. I was sad to go back to work and have to go to a "day care" setting! We miss co-op SO much!!
We have enrolled three of our four children at this school and they have loved every minute of it. The teachers have been amazing at anticipating our children's needs. I love the parent involvement and the multi-age classroom. It is all about learning through play.
I can't say enough good things about Co-Op--what an amazing school! The teachers are wonderful, and I love how much parents help out. It's way better than Montessori or Waldorf, and so cheap you wouldn't believe it. Best of all: my whole family has made friends for life through Co-Op. Everyone is so friendly and laid back.
