I love this school...the classrooms are so open and the materials they work with are great. My oldest went here for kindergarten and is now in 4th and my youngest went here from P3 and is now in kindergarten. They focus a lot on earth friendly practices and work on life skills that other schools don't/won't. I've never heard of schools having a mini iron and teaching kids how to iron, spreading butter on toast, having conversations over juice, doing dishes. These are all simple educational things that this school does and it makes me so proud to be a part of it. The teachers are great the students are great. As you can tell I think this school is great! <3

As a former teacher I "subbed" in this school for the first time about six years ago. After the first day in Bunche, I became a true believer in Marie Montessori's methods (Why had I never heard of this method when I was in education classes at Indiana University??). Not only that, I felt it was a privilege to even be able to observe the outstanding teachers employed at Bunche. This is what education SHOULD be...why it isn't the norm for all schools in all school districts is beyond me. This school takes students from across the socio-economic spectrum and creates daily miracles in their lives. It makes no difference whether the student who walks through those doors is a gifted-and-talented level student or an "at risk for failure" student or somewhere in between. What the teachers at this school do everyday is phenomenal.

My children both attend Bunche and we could not be happier with the school. The senses of community that the children feel is like no other school I have ever been in. IN Fort Wayne this school truely is a gem to be treasured!!

Both of my daughters attend Bunche and will be moving into their second year (2008-2009). It is a fabulous school, others just cannot/do not compare. My husband and I both attended parochial schools and had intended on sending our children, however, after researching, observing, and listening to others who had previously enrolled their children in Bunche Elementary we changed our minds. There is just absolutely no comparison to this program (magnet montessori)...NONE AT ALL! The staff is wonderful as well. I truly hope this helps any and all of you in making one of the most important decisions in your child's life. We are so excited for them to graduate and move on to Towles, where they will complete 1st thru 8th grade in a magnet montessori program as well.

My daughter is new to Bunche this year and she loves it! She is a P3 which is 1/2 day preschool for 3-year-olds. She loves the independence of riding the school bus and being able to 'choose' her activities. She also loves the mentoring system. She is partnered with a nice 5-year-old who helps her learn the ropes and assists her in activities she is too young to do on her own. It is a great environment for her to learn to work with other kids to accomplish tasks she is unable to do on her own. We have also seen an increase in her desire to help out at home with her 6 month old baby sister, which she already helped quite a bit with. She seems eager to teach her little sister things more. This school is great experience for us all so far!

I love this school. The programs that they have developed using the Montessori program are outstanding. My 5 year old loves going to school and being able to be with the same class and teacher for 3 years. She has built a bond with her teachers and has learned several things from there. I love this school!

It is one of the highest academically performing schools in the State of Indiana. Employs the Montessori method of teaching. Is a magnet school, which means an application process and higher-motivated parents. Has a highly involved PTA. Low to no instance of violence, few (if any) dismissals. Rare combination. Academics are more important here than extracurricular activities.

I go to Bunche and I love this school. We have lots of after-school activities such as Chess Club, basketball, cheerleading, student council, and Horizons(a gifted-child program). The teachers, principal, secretary and everyone else are conserned only about our safety and succeeding in life. Next year we are going to Towles Intermidiete School(formally Geyer Middle School)so more people can see how good our school is and how hard we try to make peace and safety in the world. -5th Grader March,2006

Bunche Montessori Magnet School is an excellent choice for parents in the FWCS district. During the 2004-05 school year 92% of third graders passed the language portion of ISTEP and 100% passed the math portion! Each classroom has a AMS certified Montessori teacher and a full time assistant. In 2003 Bunche Montessori became the first public Montessori School in the nation to be accredited by the American Montessori Society. The environment is child centered, individualized, and promotes respect for self and others. My 5 year old son LOVES school. And can't wait to share his excitement and love of learning!
