Having had my six children attend a total of 4 different Montessori schools in the area, I give Oakview Montessori my #1 rating. Mrs. Alyce (the directoress) is wonderful for parents: organized, flexible, kind and welcoming. And she's fabulous for the children: grandmotherly, firm, sincerely delighting in the young ones (and they know it), insightful, gentle, and (overall) very wise in the Montessori method. She plans wonderful, age-appropriate field trips, including the annual Yule Log Hunt at the Morton Arboretum, complete with hot cider, cookies, caroling (with a live musician) and a special visit from a delightful Mr. and Mrs. Claus. This outing is open to all of Mrs. Alyce's graduates, and my kids are heartbroken if we have to miss it...even after all these years. If you're thinking Montessori, definitely "shadow" at Oakview. (They don't have a website for a reason: They don't need one. Word of mouth keeps the school full year after year. And at this point, former students are starting to bring their own children to Oakview.)
